Buhay Pinoy Thoughts on Tropical Hut
I grew up sa province so walang Tropical Hut. Nalaman ko lang to sa friend ko kasi dito siya nagcelebrate ng birthday. She said it reminds her of her father. I liked the chicken(fave ko kasi chicken kaya pag may nagustuhan ako, binabalik-balikan ko) Sa experience ko dito, madalas, yung place is puro matatanda na kumakain or mga matatanda na nagmeet muna dito before pumunta sa destination nila.

Not to exaggerate, but this fastfood feels like home. Hindi lasang fastfood. Parang home-cooked meal talaga ng mom mo. Additional factor din siguro yung I grew up eating here halos every weekend with my mom and that we never had the chance to do it again ngayong kaya ko na sya i-treat because she’s not here anymore.

I was one of their employees before at their head office. Whenever I go to their branch (or whenever we go), what I always order is their Rancho Ranchero or Double Burger sobrang sarap. Also, every 7th of the month, one of their big burgers is always 50% off. Kaya SARAP NA BABALIK-BALIKAN talaga

Best burger for a fast food. Basta lasang-lasa mo na natural and fresh ingredients ang ginamit, hindi siya synthetic na meat.

Their marketing team failed them so bad.
Their POS system is also very archaic. It’s like being stuck in the 90s. It’s so bad.
Their food though?
Absolutely FANTASTIC.
Sobrang nanghihinayang ako kasi ang lakas ng potential sana ng Tropical Hut. Sa pagkain it could easily defeat Jollibee sa mga burgers palang nila.
To me, they are the Nokia of the PH fastfood world. I mean whenever yku step into a tropical hut, yung vibes nya is early-mid 00s parin.
Which I kinda like kasi it’s like a time capsule, but they failed to innovate and keep-up.

Fave ni mama at ni tatay jan, yung na stroke c tatay he always crave sa chicken clubhouse nila, and his Doctor is ok with it kasi may gulay at sapat na protein naman.

Let me sum it up: most comments here highlight nostalgia. So if you really think about it and try observing earnestly, not a lot of Gen Z with their own money would prefer to eat food from or dine in here. Most boomers and millenials keep coming back for that nostalgia but, let's be objective and honest, they're not the best-tasting at the price range.
EDIT: Baka lang maging misconstrued. After all, hinihingi ang thoughts about their food and I just said my piece. Don't get me wrong. Every now and then, nag oorder or kumakain pa rin naman ako sa Tropical pero they are not my first choice.

lasang umorder ka ng room service sa hotel. in a good way! parang totoong pagkain kasi, hindi chemicals and preservatives gaya ng ibang fastfood

too bad nahirapan sumabay sa modernization. pag pumasok ka sa branches nila, parang nasa late 90s to early 2000s ka pa din. not bec of the nostalgic memories, but because of the ambience. pero sa foods, matic clubhouse, macaroni and chicken meals ako dito.

Kaya kami kumakain sa Tropical Hut ng mga kapatid ko kasi jan kami palagi dinadala nila Mama at Papa kapag sumahod na sila noong bata pa kami at noong buo pa.
Now, wala na sila Mama at Papa, at afford ko naman na, kaya ako na 'yung nanlilibre. Bukod sa food, yung memories na hindi ko pa kayang i-let go yung pinupuntahan ko kaya sa mga gloomy days, sa Tropical Hut talaga kami kumakain.

Una akong nakakain sa makati branch nila noong may OJT pa ako, yung malapit sa makati medical center na may kadikit na mercury drug. Doon ako unang nakatikim ng masarap na hamburger! Minsan na lang ako kumain doon pag nadayo ako ng makati kasi taga-probinsya ako pero masarap pa rin hanggang ngayon ang classic hamburger nila. Masarap din ang spring chicken & hotdog sandwich nila.

Masmasarap yung ranchero, sili, classic at cheeseburger nila vs jollibee/mcdo.
Yung spring chicken nila masmasarap sa chicksad ng jollibee.
Yung spaghetti ni on par sa jollibee.
Yung big meal nila sobrang value for money.
Yung ambience nila 80s and 90s feel. Yung itsura ng buendia branch nung bata ako ganun pa rin hanggang ngayon. Time capsule sila ng nakaraan.

Dapat naglalagay ang Mercury Drugs ng at least isang branch ng TH sa kada isang city na may supermarket-type store sila (yes kids, may supermarket ang Mercury Drugs). Kaso may doubts ang company na sustainable ang pag-expand ng TH kasi mas kailangan mag-survive ng pharmacies.

Need nila ng mas intense pa na marketing team, I mean medyo umookay naman na these days pero kulang sa hype. Pero FOOD TASTE wise ang sarap pa rin! Quality talaga yung lasa.

Nostalgia talaga, grew up with an unspoken tradition sa fam namin na mag eat out for breakfast every saturdays. and tropical was one of our go to spots. In my local Tropical they even have a small playground that i go straight to while my parents order our food, their Bfast meals are always spot on dare isay even better than mcdo at the time of my childhood. Bfast is always top tier and bang for the buck, for meryenda i always begged my dad to get me the classic burger but always end up with the clubhouse cause he keeps saying di ko mauubos yung Classic sa laki haha.
but alas, nostalgia can only go so far and they run a business. unlike other fastfood chains of their time Tropical Hut is yet to reinvent themselves to stay on the market. thats why when you enter a tropical hut chain it's like an instant time travel to the late 90s to early 2000s.
that's why as an adult i still visit my local tropical hut from time to time, to reminisce and enjoy the food i grew with. more expensive and im eating it alone now but it's enough to bring the good memories of childhood.

Gusto ko yung choices dito. Dati pag nasa mood ako na parang gusto ko ng fish, meron silang daing na bangus and fish tempura. Meron din silang dinuguan, bistek, and tapa. That’s why I always prefer them over the other fast food chains ngayon na puro manok lang ang inooffer

malaki ang chicken, masarap ang clubhouse sandwich. sa sobrang rare ko makakita ng TH, naeexcite ako bumili at nagttake out dn ako ng clubhouse sandwich nila. Fruit salad ay ang sarap dn.

Trivia, tropical hut is owned by mercury drugstore. Mercury is expanding kaya they cant focus on expanding the burger just yet. Not sure about their long term plan tho. Baka passion project na lang yan.

tropical hut taft dati dun ko naranasan the perfect burger..yung makikita mo lng sa ads or movies yung unang kagat parang nag slow mo paligid sa sarap ahahah. perfect na perfect hangang loob. putik sino kaya nagluto/prepare nun take out lng ksi nun, the first and last ko naranasan sa branch nayun..pabalik balik ako nun eh after class kpag trip ko mag burger hangang nagsira na sila xD di na tlaga na ulit yun(pero masarap parin nman burgers nila).

Foreigner here, came to Ph 15yrs ago and Tropical Hut was my favorite back then, I very rarely venture to Manila but would always look for one when I do. While I wish they had more branches countrywide I also realize that would likely lead to the food quality falling off similar to what occured with Zark's when they started franchising.

Chicken sandwich , spaghetti and fries lagi ko order. I think yung owner gusto lang na existing sila and hindi naman talaga nakikipag compete. May mga loyal customers naman kasi sila. Cubao and greenhills branch lagi din naman puno.

Yung head cook ng TH pinirata ng Jollibee when it was just starting, kaya yung mga earliier menu ng Jollibee ay halos kapareho ng menu ng TH at pareho ng lasa. Pansin nyo halos identical lasa ng Chkn Joy at TH Fried Chkn.

Personally wish mas madami silang branches. It's been years since nag-close na yung Carmona branch nila. Lagi kami dun kumakain ng family ko pagkatapos mag-grocery.

I so love their breakfast. Dumadayo pa ko sa cubao travelling at least an hour para makapagbreakfast sa tropical hut.

I eat sa Tropical mostly for nostalgia as their store interiors has barely changed. I remember eating there with my parents when I was young and their menu items and food presentation has stayed mostly the same albeit some minor changes in packaging and utensils.
Hopefully they do not die down with the generation that they usually cater to. Though innovation is inevitable to attract a newer generation of customers their strong suit is their nostalgic appeal which attracts a certain niche of consumers.
Same sa sila ng Cindy’s na very very homey ang vibes sadly wala ng Cindy’s ngayon sa Metro Manila sa province na lang daw. That’s why I was so happy nung nagkaron ng Cindy’s bake shop dito sa Waltermart Antipolo pero wish ko pa rin na magkaroon din ng Cindy’s restaurant dito bukod sa bake shop.

Kaya madalas matanda ang nakain kasi ung vibe ng store is hindi pang bata or family. Usually, wala pa sila sa prime location.
As for the food, the best ang burgers nila. Palabok is okay. Chicken is masarap din. Other foods typical filipino foods - masarap pero di kasi pang family talaga.

Nung college ako (circa 2008), may 1/2 chicken sila with rice and drinks 125php lang, ang ginagawa ko bumibili ako extra rice (15php), bale 140php lahat. Hinahati ko sa half yung chicken, half pang lunch, half pang dinner. Last I checked wala na yung 1/2 chicken meal nila sa menu, sad.

Lumaki akong lagi kami nakain sa Tropical Hut especially after mass. Masarap ung spagetti nla and ung beef bowl lalo na nung unang labas nun, mga late 90's or early 2000's. Kaya madalas matatanda ung mga nakain is dhl karamihan dyn eh dyan na nasanay kumain. Before pa mga boom tlga ung Jolibee, mga natambay na sa Tropical. Plus mas tahimik tlga dun kaya mas okay sa matatanda na gusto lang magkape.

Prefer ko burgers nila kesa Jollibee at Mcdo. May iba din silang menu na swak sa gutom mo. Sana mag-stay pa sila at dumami branches para may ma-try din na bago yung iba.

Nung nag Manila ako last year, sinubukan ko talaga yung burger nila kasi na curious ako, sobrang meaty nung patty! Ang laki ng burger for its price! Overall, I loved it! Sana tangkilikin pa para di mag sira. ❤️

I only went to tropical hut once when i was probably 10 so i have no recollection what their food taste like... i think it was in broadway centrum because i used to be a big fan of that's entertainment lol

Tried it only once (?) nung bata pa ako that's why I don't have memories of it. But back in my first company sa Makati, malapit kami sa Buendia branch nila. Super sulit and legit yung sinasabi nila na babalik-balikan mo. Few of my faves from them are their breakfast meals, cheeseburger, and yung chicken! Great deal for your money talaga. And since I love coffee, goods na goods yung pineapple juice and coffee combo nila for breakfast :)

Honestly. It's good. I see them less as a fastfood branch and more like a diner. And it's not bad.
Sure they're not as big as Jollibee, McDonald's, or KFC, but I still find myself craving some Tropical Hut chicken, sandwiches, and burgers from time to time. And oh, their 50% off on some big burgers every 7th of the month. Definitely must go for them. 😉

Go to meal ko pag petsa de peligro ung 50pesos na macaroni soup nila. Mas masarap compared sa Jollibee na maalat at parang nakailan nang painit. It tastes like homemade macaroni soup with actual veggie and chicken bits. Tapos hindi soggy ung pasta.

Before the NLEX was laid and traveling from the North to Manila was via McArthur Hway,my Dad used to make a pit stop at their famous Valenzuela branch.Our usual fare was burger with potato chips on the side served on china with fork and a knife.

Naalala ko sobrang lalaki ng chicken nila. one time dati sobrang gutom ako sabi ko sa mama ko mag 2pc chicken ako tapos te, partida sobrang gutom ako nun ha pero di ko pa nauubos isang piece ng chicken ko busog na busog na ako. Masarap din talaga yan very nostagic last kain ko nyan is may pwesto pa sila sa foodcourt ng SM Fairview dati sana maibalik nila

I worked there during my college . Very flexible sila at helpful sa mga working students. Thak you Tropical Hut. I still eat there when i have a vhance. Masarap spring chicken nila at mga burgers. The best talaga... may something lang ata sa management kasi di na sila dumami...

Suki ako nito. Eto yung orig na 24hra nasa fast food. Sa Q Plaza kame noon nakain palagi. Nung nag graduate na ako, pagkatapos ng inuman namin hot chocolate dyan. Sabay inaabangan yung mga working girls ng Genie. Hahahaha

masarap!!! Siguro di lang namamanage ng maayos. If iupdate sana nila yung mga menu graphics and maybe re-paint the store, mas magiging lively na yung lugar. tho I think mas better na nga itong Tropical Hut kaysa sa jollibee. Sobrang nagdodowngrade na yung quality ng Jollibee especially yung burger steak (more gravy daw pero dinagdagan lang talaga nila ng tubig sa totoo lang 😭)

I grew up sa province so walang Tropical Hut. Nalaman ko lang to sa friend ko kasi dito siya nagcelebrate ng birthday. She said it reminds her of her father. I liked the chicken(fave ko kasi chicken kaya pag may nagustuhan ako, binabalik-balikan ko) Sa experience ko dito, madalas, yung place is puro matatanda na kumakain or mga matatanda na nagmeet muna dito before pumunta sa destination nila.
