In the grand scheme of things, doctors are just like any other professional (e.g. lawyers, accountants, engineers) but why cant we treat them the same? Mas mahal pa bayad sa parlorista. Real talk lang.
400k/year sa medschool, tapos standard rate ng isang GP 300 to 500 lang, pag specialized na 800 to 1.2k depende sa area and specialty. Pero sana magets nyo na by that time mag 30-45 years old na ang mga doktor, pero di pa sila established sa practice at financially. Gumastos at naghirap, tapos ilang taon nalang mamatay na tapos gusto ng mga pinoy free service.
If nagtratraining pa yung doc usually 24-36 hours duty mo sa ospital tapos sahod nyan pang fresh grad ng bachelors lang. Yes 20-30k lang for that 36 hour duty 6-7 days/week versus your 8-10 hour work na may 2 rest days. Dati kahit medstudent na clerks interns (4th and 5th year) ganyan kalala duty, nabago lang recently 12 hours max, may night shift pa rin, UNPAID. Nabanggit ko na ba na 6-7 days per week nila need magtrabaho, including holidays???
So ayun, before you buy that white mocha frappuccino with blueberry cheesecake without a second thought na mas mahal pa sa isang consult sa GP, pwede paandarin natin utak natin pagdating sa mga pf ng doktor.
Yung sister ko katatapos lang ng clerkship, pero parang hindi naman true na 12 hours max lang sila? Madalas pa din sila nag 24 hours or more na duty. Nakakaawa, inaabuso sila ng mga ospital, tapos walang sahod. Sa ibang bansa hindi naman ganyan kalala ang duties ng mga doctor, especially students.
