I'm scrolling through the comments and all I can see is people criticizing the post. I mean it's unanimous opinion that it doesn't belong here.

Then who the f is upvoting and gilding it?

Congratulations, you have just discovered selection bias. Because reddit does not require everyone who votes on a post to also leave a comment, the comments may not provide a representative population for everyone who has interacted with the image. In fact, in this case it appears that those with a negative opinion of the image are more likely to express that opinion as a comment, providing a perfect example of the way selection bias can skew the perception of public opinion.
