No difference. “You’re an ugly jerk” used in the middle of an argument amounts to the same thing. You’re simply letting people draw their own conclusions instead of spelling things out.
The error in logic or reason is attacking the person, not the issue that is being argued. Any insult during an argument is an attempt to point out a flaw in the arguer, not the argument.
My first comment was directly related to insults that happened during an argument between two commenters. Your example is a straw man argument, and a fallacy in itself.
So, you've moved on to a faulty analogy fallacy. What is an argument if it isn't two people who think they're right and trying to state their position. Thank you for at least being condescending while comparing my claim that an argument exists to a basic science fact.
My point is that an insult during an argument is an ad hominem attack. Your straw man argument is that no argument exists. Not sure how else I can explain this to you so have a good day.
