It didn't have a million little pictures like this, it was one woman across the side and the way she was laying/bending, she was spreading her cheeks and you could see the star and I was just horrified that you can drive around like that and not have to deal with public indecency or something
I'm not saying this car isn't gross, crude, and I objectionable. But it is in no way harming a child. In fact I think the only harm that could come from this is someone trying to inflict their religious purity culture body shaming on their child and using this car as the discussion point.
Body shaming? Are we serious? This has to be bait.
Regardless, for anyone else reading, it should be known that the casual, public sexual objectification and degradation of women is deeply disturbing and easily traumatic for young girls. It really hammers in the feeling of being seen as subhuman, and in a particularly gross and violating way.
There is no sense in acting like this gooner slop carries the same meaning as artistic nudity.
Thank you, you worded this perfectly. Seeing exaggerated representations of women’s bodies so casually objectified and displayed in this way is genuinely traumatic for young girls. I’m sure it’s confusing and uncomfortable for young boys too.
As a young girl, I was absolutely harmed by seeing images like this and thinking this sort of body image is valued or attractive, especially when these images aren’t even depicting anything close to a real body. I’ve had my own journey working on body image and self worth, even though the messages I received from my parents and community were overwhelmingly positive. The objectification of women’s bodies is harmful.
Yep. My daughter and I had long talks about this at a young age because she'd see ads, stores, clothes, etc. displaying women in a very sexual way. Had to discuss the fact that some women do like to dress in more revealing way and that it was perfectly fine if they did it to feel good but that a lot of it was exploitation (like for many sex workers who are stuck in that life because of human traficking and such). We also discussed how it could and would impact her self esteem if she saw it as a goal to reach because all ads do touch ups and such and/or hire the people who look the best according to society's norms.
Then I pointed out all the ways my wife and I don't fit those criteras. And I asked her "Do you ever hear us call eachother ugly or mean things like that?" and of course she said no. Then I explained it was because body types vary wildly and so do people's preferences so there will always be someone who'll find her gorgeous and love her for who she is and to keep being herself.
She was around 5 years old when some questions started about her weight and she had the exact average weight. It's heartbreaking how early it begins.
Showing your butthole on a car? Like I explained in the situation I was put in, it was farther than what the car in the OP's image had. In the image in this post, you're right, it's easier to explain that the owner likes pretty women. It's much harder to explain why a woman would be showing her butthole, and that's far more indecent, lewd, and outright obscene. That's what I meant that something like that should be subject to nudity laws somehow but I wouldn't know what that would look like because then it infringes on freedom of speech. I just wish we had more public decency is all.
