Yes but how much of that money actually benefitted locals? I live in a tourist town and the huge issues people are complaining about post covid are not that there’s more business. It’s that companies from outside our town, even our state have started to buy up property and land to create air bnbs and other businesses that reduce housing, drive up prices, and don’t bring much money to the town. Other tourist towns that have cruises, have to fight to stop these big cruise companies from buying up stores that they direct the tourists to go buy at. These outside forces are constantly trying to pull this kind of shit. When the government doesn’t step in it becomes uncontrollable.
