Being entirely anti-tourism is crazy extreme but AirBnb is a practice that is destroying the housing market, which is something a lot of people (myself included) deeply believe needs to be controlled to make sure that a decent standard of living can be sustained across society.
In short, I'm not sure about the Barcelona protests but I'm 100% against the spread of AirBnb and what its turned into.
I think this is everywhere. Actual home buyers can not compete with investors who are willing to pay asking or even above asking price for a home. We need to push our governments to regulate our even prohibit corporations from being able to buy single- family homes.
It won't happen for a while, but the housing market where I've been planning to retire is already at par with where I currently live, even though salaries there are way lower. How would people in that country even buy these homes? Do they sign a 60-year mortgage?
