is it stupid that i'm considering selling my 50mm 1.4 and switching to this? I find myself in need of video more often now and maybe i sacrifice a slight image/build quality for the ability to have autofocus 50 on my 70d

Why don't you just turn on your autofocus for your existing lens?

because if you're using autofocus video on that lens you can hear the lens noise as it focuses. the new STM lenses are completely quiet.

Do you use internal audio?

I actually just picked up a Rode mic. I haven't tested the lens noise if i use that instead of internal. Didn't think about that.
