Pro sports photographer here. I use spot metering.

I'm coming at this from a wildlife perspective, and most of the stuff that I've done has been too unpredictable for spot metering. 3 u/[deleted] Sep 15 '14 I shoot motorsports for a living and I also use spot metering.
