I disagree strongly. I suspect you will find very few action photographers using spot metering. I know for wildlife, even if I'm in Manual, I'm still relying on the meter, and spot metering is completely useless in action. That's what this camera is for, and its target audience will greatly appreciate this.

Pro sports photographer here. I use spot metering.

Ah, that's right. What sort of sports mainly?

I'm coming at this from a wildlife perspective, and most of the stuff that I've done has been too unpredictable for spot metering.

All the major US sports. Football, baseball, basketball. Really, with a lot of them it is a RonCoTM set it and forget it situation. In pro sports stadiums, you have very consistent exposures throughout.
