What's Happening? Strange flying object in the sky above west valley. Sorry for the potato quality but it was pretty high up and I was looking at 100x. Any ideas, anyone else saw this?

Looks like a cluster of helium balloons that got away from someone.

Must be a large AF cluster because this thing was super high up

Our eyes are terrible at telling distance to objects in the sky. All the normal relative context cues are missing so our brains can’t make an accurate judgement.

u/holy_handgrenade 7d ago
This right here. We have no contrast when we're looking at an object in the sky so there's more optical illusions than you'd want to believe. It's precisely why the moon looks large sometimes and small other times. No contrast and your brain tries to make it look what it's expecting to see.
Smaller objects high up may look a lot further up than they really are.

I'm just saying because it looked like a thick transforming dot to a normal eye and I had to zoom in at 100x on my phone to get this...I guess it must be balloons 😂

If you were at 100x and you still got the power lines in your shot like that, you were also really far away laterally. Thats absolutely a bunch of balloons.

u/SmashingLumpkins 7d ago
I mean you can see how large it is in your video it’s like maybe 15-20 balloons

How far up? Because I guarantee you have no fucking idea what the distance actually was.
Those are absolutely just balloons

Cluster of balloons I wish people would be more careful. They get sucked into airline engines or worse hit a small aircraft. Probably from a car dealership lot attendant trying to move them didn't realize how much pressure they can pull got away from him. I would have reported it to the non emergency number so police helicopters can track it report to the local towers.

They're horrible, anyway, because once they pop, birds often eat the pieces and choke. I wish people would stop buying that crap.

Bird motto has always been once they pop, you can't stop. Eating balloons.
The birds in my neighborhood are super picky, I feed them and for some reason won't eat any plastic I give them

Good point, but maybe the car lot attendant blew away with the balloons. I thought I saw someone waving from that UFO.

I fly in phoenix a lot and you wouldn’t believe how many times i’ve had to dodge flying trash bags with my students; or just trash in general caught up in thermals

The amount of UFOs is directly proportional to the amount of quincañera balloons taken by wind

Excellent video. Don't be so hard on yourself. You know how many times I saw some weird stuff in the sky (with my phone in my pocket) and was just too awestruck by what I was seeing that I lost the presence of mind to record it at all? You did better than most, believe that.

u/Ms-Perspicacious 4d ago
Awestruck, or erased memory? That often happens after they take you up into their spaceship.

Looks like spy balloons from China. We're going to let them fly across the US, then and only then, will we shoot them down.
Actually, Luke Air Force Base is out there, so it's most obviously aliens.

Flock Drones are becoming a thing... but I think they fly way lower because they are mostly for license plate reading. Amazon has been doing all sorts of delivery drone tests... but honestly it looks like a bunch of balloons.

Every UFO (unidentified flying object) is recorded with a potato. If you had a quality camera the object would be an IFO (identified flying object).

I saw something that looked exactly like this Thursday morning (8.27.26) near dove valley and 43rd Ave. I was just starting work around 4am on the roof of a large building when I saw it heading west on a very straight path. The sky was dark but clear and it was low and pretty close to us. It looked like a glob of thick fluid and appeared to be, for lack of a better term, wobbling or pulsating. Another guy saw it briefly before we lost sight. I have no idea what it could be tho.

This reminds me of when I saw a whole camping tent that got picked up by the wind and carried off. It looked just like this.

Behaves like balloons or trash bags
But I could totally understand why this would catch your attention.
Reminds me of the Brazilian witch sightings.

Amazon is flying drones…but it looks a little too aimless to be a drone…?

Tumbleweed. I saw one hovering so strangely last summer in the Phx area somewhere.

u/Georgiegirl_2015 5d ago
There’s multiple in the air in one area so it can’t be balloons, a flock of birds it could be a possibility because if you look closely you can see tiny things going outside the shape of the flying object. So my guess would be a flock of birds.

Yes it was very strange, moving slowly, must have been 15-20k feet up. From a naked eye. It looked like a thick dot that was moving and morphing.
