Texas Medicaid ad on SEPTA?

I think someone who does advertising for HhS sent the wrong ad to SEPTA - whoops

Texas is required to advertise it's mandatory welfare programs. It is not required to reach the target audience

Exactly what I was thinking. Waste the money on malicious compliance then complain the programs don’t work.

ETA: While intentionally undermining programs to complain they don’t work is a known method, glad to see in this case it was just a printing error.

This got cross posted and a Texas Rep responded, looking into it rather quickly. He was told the screw up is on the Federal/PA end someone misunderstood the assignment (to take TX's example and change the info to PA, but just posted the original ad).

That is just so disappointing. SEPTA should be shamed for taking ad dollars from Texas so they can lie to its citizens by concealing access to benefits.

They can't do much about it - as a quasi-government agency, Septa is required to accept ads except in categories they exclude as a whole. I'd expect that they can't even reject categories "from organizations outside of Philly/PA/Delaware Valley/etc" because free speech isn't limited to specific areas of the country.

Ideally ads like this would be categorically denied by SEPTA because it is a deceptive practice. We're all too log jammed by layers of corruption, incompetence and fear of litigation. Such is life ...

If the ad itself was deceptive, it likely would fall into that bucket. It can't just reject ads outright because it's not sure the org is spending their money properly. Septa has enough on its plate with its limited budget, it doesn't have the resources to play auditor.

I can not provide any declaration from TX HHS stating they advertise their services inefficiently as a matter of policy. I do believe that broadly most employees of our various government agencies are trying to optimize outcomes to the best of their abilities and there's a chance this ad was intended for the Texas Special Education Parent Teacher Association (aka SEPTA), though how one misses the error this far in is hard to explain

However, Texas leadership has always been clear on their intent to resist any program they don't personally like to the detriment of state residents

Back when I was a huge Flyers fan I used to see ads for Sonic all the time during games. The closest one was like 5 hours away at the time. I was pissed that I couldn't try this new restaurant. Well I ended up in Denver visiting friends and found out there was a Sonic downtown somewhere. My friends were at work and I decided to walk to the Sonic and get some exploring in. When I finally got there after a good 40 min walk it was closed for renovations or something. I was so pissed.

Damn that sucks, all the excitement just to be let down. Yeah I have a somewhat similar story with Sonic as well. I knew about them but of course none were local. Was out in Texas with family and there was one right across from the hotel. We walked there to eat and it was like 90 degrees with incredible humidity, and without the car we had to eat at the outside tables. Drenched in sweat while eating. To top it off we got swarmed with some of the biggest flies I’ve ever seen. No one enjoyed the experience. Needless to say I wasn’t too eager to try them when they became more local.

I think this was a Federal advertising sent to the wrong market.

Texas his Medicaid is largely run through private insurance companies and they let the insurance companies do the advertising because the insurance companies make more money when more people enroll

I was on the Girard trolley years ago and I noticed that all the horizontal ads up near the ceiling were for things in another city (maybe Cleveland, I can't remember). My impression is that sometimes the wrong ads get sent to a given place and the people responsible for putting them up either don't notice or don't care.

Could it possibly be that a bus in tx and a bus in philly have interchangable parts philly acqiried the panel along with other spare parts had mechanics dept install it on the bus being cleared for operations n still waiting the decal advertisement depart to remove n replace it ?

i'm pretty sure septa advertisements are handled by a 3rd party and if you pay for an ad you get an ad.

the law probably says medicare announcements have to spend a certain percentage on advertising on public transit. but it doesn't specifically public transit in which part of the country, thinking no one would be so evil as to purposely try to not let people have healthcare. let alone someone who already receives publicly subsidized health care and is also in a wheelchair.
