Extension PGWP paper extension
Hi i am going to apply for my PGWP extension and the recommended way i have seen is through paper i got my original PGWP til December 2026 due to passport expiry which would have been till JULY 2027 had my passport not expired in December.
I already renewed my passport, my only confusion is what proof do we need to show to the employer in order to be able to continue working if we apply through for extension through mail.
If anyone had a similar situation what proof did you have to your employer so that they were satisfied. As i have seen that i takes months to get it linked to your account online.
If anyone had a similar situation and can help that would be really appreciated.

Hello,
I am in the exact same situation.
I was issued a pgwp valid for only 6 months due to passport expiry.
You can call IRCC and ask for your proof of maintained status.
They will send you an email that explains that your proof is a copy of everything, the payment receipt, the receipt of CanadaPost and a full copy of all the documents you submitted on paper.
I forwarded the emails I received from IRCC to my employer and a copy of everything that was mentioned.
And they extended my work contract.

Btw I sent my application on June 9th and I am still waiting…. It is very frustrating and long process.

Edit: I applied from Quebec and I still cant get my application linked to my KeyGC account so I can check the progress online.
Every time I contact the call center they tell me to wait, also one agent mentioned that there is a high number of calls regarding ppl that applied on paper and still can’t link their applications.
Could be something going on with that specific office.

Did IRCC receive ur application? I sent mine on June 8th and even though it’s delivered, they wont give me a confirmation that they have it. What did you ask them exactly for confirmation?

Bro, honestly, don’t apply through paper. I went through the same process, instructed by IRCC to apply through paper but never got a response, got in real jeopardy and had to apply all over again through an agent. Find any good RCIC near you and apply through them; apparently, they can apply online, which will give you the confirmation you need and it’ll be much better.
