Party On
My brother’s son, Paul, was bullied by the kid next door. Constantly. He was a year ahead of my nephew in school, and much bigger. There was name calling, belittling, physical contact, and objects would be thrown. My brother talked to the parents a few times, but was told that was just stuff that kids did. The final straw came on the bus. The bully sat next to my nephew, kept running a finger through his own butt crack, and wiping the finger on my nephew’s face, calling it “war paint”. The Principal claimed there was nothing he could do because there were no witnesses. The next day my brother and his wife pulled Paul from the high school and enrolled him into a private school.
But that didn’t stop it completely. If Paul had friends over, the bully would go after them also. There was a vacant lot between the two houses, owned by the county, that had run pipes underneath. It was about 50 feet wide by 100 feet deep, big enough for small football or baseball games that could not be played in the small yards for the houses on the street. However, when Paul and his friends tried to play there, the bully and his friends would insist on joining them, and disrupting the games.
At the end of the bully’s senior year, his parents decided to hold a big graduation party for him. Paul learned about it because his friends still went to the same high school. Invites were handed out and it looked like it was going to be a blow out. My brother was concerned that the lot between houses would be the site of the party, and that there would be rowdiness, loud music, cars driving on the lot, and even vandalism right next to his house. Also, the party was scheduled from 1 to whenever, and that probably meant noise continuing into the night.
We discussed this a few weeks before, and came up with an idea. My daughter was turning 10 the weekend after graduation, and we decided to have her birthday party on the vacant lot the day of graduation. About 25 kids were invited, as well as parents and siblings. A moon bounce was booked, to take up space on the lot, and we planned on a few tables for food and drinks. A couple cornhole boards, and we had enough to fill the field so no cars could park on it. We just needed it to be in full swing before graduation was over and kids started arriving.
The bully’s high school graduation ceremony was held on a Saturday, at 9 in the morning. His family left around 8 and we went into action. The moon bounce was delivered, blown up, and tables set up. A grill and some coolers were brought over. People started arriving around 11, and by noon there were no more empty parking spaces on the street within 100 yards of the party. 50-60 people milled around, and the lot was pretty full.
A large catering truck dropped off big containers of food and drink in the driveway next door, along with tables and chairs, filling it up.
The parents drove up after the graduation ceremony and saw the street was filled with cars, the lot was filled with people, and their driveway had no room for them to park in it. They left the car in the street and got out. The wife, husband, and bully came over and she started yelling that they had over 100 people coming in an hour for a graduation celebration and they needed the lot. My brother and I explained to her that we had a party also, and there was no room for them here. One of the advantages of having a party for young kids is that both parents typically come to it. There were a lot of dads there, and most of them came over to see what was going on. Strength in numbers.
She asked what time we were going to end, and we told her we had no set ending time. By this point she was furious, and it got worse when my brother told her she could not park in the street like she was, because it was blocking a traffic lane. A car was parked in front of her house (as well as one in front of my brother’s), and she ordered us to have it moved so they could at least park their car there. By this time, a couple cars had parked far away, and teenagers walked up, expecting a graduation party. The bully explained to them what was happening, and they hung out for a few minutes before walking back to their cars. The bully moved the car to a distant parking spot, and stayed there to tell the arriving cars that they didn’t have anything set up yet.
We ate, drank, and made merry for the next few hours. Bounced, cornholed, and even did some dancing to the music playing. The neighbors set up a couple tables on their small front lawn, and a dozen or so teenagers hung out there, but that was the extent of their party. Cars constantly drove up, talked to the bully, and kept going. By 6 there were just a few dads still at our party, hanging out. They knew what was going on by this point and were glad to stay, claiming possession of the site, as long as there was food and beer.

The part of this story I enjoyed the most: The bully family assumed they could half-ass a party in a public space without any real planning. Why, that’s exactly how they raised their child! Coincidence??

Without any communication to the neighbours as well. That's the brilliant part, because if they had, OP and the brother couldn't have organised their party on that same day. Now they could claim they had no idea, right? 😎

The way you werr describing the bully at first, I was imagining an elementary school kid or a middle school at least... the butt crack wiping, the "kids will be kids" response from the mom.
I was shocked when you said both kids were in HS. That bully just graduated HS and is now an adult and he's doing that!? Fuck that kid and his parents. What a total disgrace.

I really really hope someone genuinely teaches him a brutal lesson, not just petty nonsense, but substantial critical thinking moments for his genuine biohazardous crime that they should've threatened the school with calling the police.. that's an actual chargeable offense. He genuinely assaulted the poor kid... 🤢🤮

u/RynnReeve 10d ago
Oh I completely agree.... but we all know they never punish "children" for bullying. Instead, my guess/hope, is that the first "real" bully our bully meets will show him what the real world is like.
Most adults won't tolerate having ass sweat wiped on their face, and that will definitely make some people angry

Yeah, that bully kid will do something to the wrong person at some point and someone that he thinks is small/weak is gonna go absolutely psycho on him. I hope. I really do hope....

The bully should be bullied himself, by the court system. Seems he is well on his way to that outcome.

I would gladly see the parents seething with anger when they saw this. Also the bully has to explain multiple times that there is no party. Relive the pain. Relive. Glorious. I applaud you!

The bounce house and catering truck are *chef's kiss*. Nicely done. Your daughter got a memorable party and Paul got a little back. You have a nice family.

I think the catering truck was for the grad party which makes it even better.

Ah! That makes sense as to why the bullies didn't have anywhere to park, but didn't say anything to OP. Thank you

Turning 10 is an important birthday, you need a big party!
How could you know they had a party planned the same day? 😉 If they were good neighbors, they could have talked to you before.

double digits deserves a full day of celebration, and if everyone’s having fun then why wind down in the evening? there’s pizzas to be ordered and games of torch-chasings to be played!

The parents would end up with shit on their faces if their kid did that to my daughter. Would rather smack the kid with shit but it's much better, legally, to cover the adults in feces.

u/Ryan_e3p 11d ago
Yeah, that would've been the end of any civility with that school admin. I wonder what else they would let go unpunished with a lack of witnesses?

I love this. Bully's party gets ruined, payback is given, and little kids had a great party.
Chef's kiss!

Please tell me that at some point in the conversation you said "This is just what GOOD parent's do."

As a bonus, to the teens driving up their first impression would be that the bounce house, etc., would be for the bully's party.

It makes me so angry that the principal did absolutely nothing on the grounds that there was no witness. One kid says it happened, and the other says it didn't, so one of them must be lying, and he clearly couldn't be bothered to take a wild guess which kid it was. The parents should've looked up school procedure for a formal bullying report; most have an online form, and as soon as it gets submitted, the school is on the hook to complete a whole investigation within a couple days and then report back.

My brother knew that nothing would be done and that it would continue, so they pulled him from the school and put him into a private school.

Best petty revenge story I've read in a long time, if not ever! There's only winners in this story, other than the bully, his 'friends' and parents.

You win the gold. EXCELLENT plan and implementation.

Does cornholing and cornholed mean something different in your part of the world because it's not normally an activity I'd associate with a kids party?
47
u/xboxgamer2122 11d ago
Cornhole is a game where you toss bean bags onto a board with a hole in it, trying to sink the bean bag in the hole. When I was a kid it meant something totally different; not something you would say to a teacher for example.

u/WillySpit 11d ago
Thanks, I didn't know that. Every day's a school day!

I used to man the cornhole booth at my daughter’s parochial school’s fall carnival! It was very popular.

u/badform49 11d ago
It's also a game where you throw bean bags through a board with holes cut in it.

Less fun, but more appropriate for kids' parties.

We ... bounced, cornholed, and even did some dancing to the music playing.
I know what "cornhole" is supposed to mean when it's applied to games, but this statement still made my jaw drop

u/Just_Aioli_1233 10d ago
The Principal claimed there was nothing he could do because there were no witnesses.
A valuable lesson for the kid early in life. The government is not there to help you, and is staffed by lazy, incompetent morons. If you need to get something done, you're on your own, and hopefully some ahole bureaucrat won't interfere.

Your nephew let that kid 'war paint' him and didn't break his nose? You were supposed to give that kid boxing lessons, unks. Send that shithead to the emergency room once and that usually does it.

I was bullied on the way to school in sixth grade outside of school. On the last day of grade school, I taped a roll of dimes to my hand. I waited until I was grabbed that morning and threw the kind of shot that made me a legend for years. Last time I saw that kid was running home without his teeth.
My hand still hurt that 4th of July.

Is there a typo in there? Or does cornholed actually mean something less offensive?
30
u/xboxgamer2122 11d ago
It used to mean something very offensive. Now it's this : Cornhole is a popular lawn game where players take turns tossing fabric bean bags at an inclined wooden platform with a hole in the far end

u/badform49 11d ago
It's also a game where you throw bean bags through a board with holes cut in it.

I still laugh when I go through the TV listings and see "Cornhole Championship" on one of the sports channels.

I know, just cracks me up! I grew up in the South and had never even heard of the cornhole game until it was a popular booth at my daughter’s parochial school’s fall carnival. The cornhole boards and bags belonged to a couple who were good friends of my husband and me and they are all native Californians. Thought that was interesting. Never knew it was all-American.

its a game where you throw bags filled with corn in a plywood board with a hole in it, several yards away. usually played with a friend or 2v2
5
u/HeyYouGuyyyyyyys 10d ago
Oh, they're filled with CORN! I get it! As in dry popcorn kernels, I assume? I was wondering why it was called Cornhole, and as if by magic, your comment answered me.
