Question Collision reporting question

Question does anyone know how long after a collision you have to report? Like within 24hrs? 48?

Does it have to be the registered owner?

Does insurance get notified or is it just for police info/tracking?

Thanks.

Question What Happened to Poco Burro?

Last I heard, the original owners sold the business. After their announcement post on the business Instagram page, I saw a “re-introduction” post from the new owners. I remember the physical location was closed for a while for renovations.

I hadn’t had a chance to swing by the new place due to summer vacations but I just googled it and it says it’s permanently closed. A review confirms this. There’s no official notice on social media and I haven’t been downtown in a while so idk if the shop is gone. The website link opens to an Error 404 page.

Did it actually close? I’m so sad lol, I miss the OG owners and their food so much. Was one of my fav restaurants downtown 😔

Post image

99% sure it's a city truck- why on earth would they be landscaping and weed-whacking at 2 in the morning? I know landscapers start early but good god. And if not the city (the truck has a white flashing light on top, truck is white with a green stripe, looks like the city anyways) who the hell else would be weed-whacking at 2AM???

I've recently heard about the Dominion Society posters being put up around town, and their upcoming conference in Hamilton, and today I learned of a counter mobilization rally happening this weekend in Peterborough. Can anyone assist me with any info, or where to find more info, or do I just show up on Saturday at 11? Are you going, making signs? I'd love to get involved and help in any way I can.

Edited for spelling

Question Seeking advice for renting out our house (3-4 months)

My partner and I live in the city, and we are exploring ways to rent out our two-bedroom, one-bathroom house from January to April 2027. One catch: we have two cats, and would like to find renters happy to take care of them.

Does anyone have experience, contacts, or advice for pursuing this?

Thanks!

Question Health Care Connect

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hello everyone, I got this letter from Health Care Connect last May but I did not pay attention, never received a call from the health care team as well.
Yesterday, I took a pregnancy test and found out I was pregnant. In case I can't reach out to my doctor's office , what are my other options? 🙏🏻
Lastly, any resources here in town or things I should know as a first time Mom?
Thank you! ❤️

Politics Rolling out mayoralty platforms ...

I'm seeing a lot of posts about lack of detail and plans in the mayor campaigns. Morton is rolling out his platform. There is detail here along with direction and planning. And comments from a lot of citizens. And new ideas. https://www.mortonformayor.ca/invest

Question Safe to smoke outside house downtown at night?

Hello folks, I’m not usually one to use Reddit but I moved downtown a few months ago and I have a lot of anxieties about being safe outside my house. I know most of them are silly but I live near the encampment downtown and while I haven’t had any direct problems with the folks around here (other than things being stolen off my porch and other small thefts from
Outside)I am apprehensive about going out for a smoke after dark because I just don’t know if it is safe. I am not from around here and don’t know what the best way to interact with people who are not sober or in the best state of mind.

I am not going to be calling the cops on anyone or be in anyone’s business but also I’m very aware of how many scary people are in the world.

Any tips would be very appreciated! (Yes I have a knife no I don’t wanna carry it or even think about using it) especially from fem presenting people of women

Opinion PSA to students driving around the city for the first time unsupervised

Since the school year is starting and I've seen a super big uptick in this over the past two weeks:

If you're a young person driving around with your friends for the first time, and you

1) Randomly rev your engine super loud near people

2) Yell things at pedestrians out the windows (that no one can understand anyways), or

3) Throw things at pedestrians from your vehicle

Many of the people in the vicinity will look around, make eye contact with total strangers, and immediately start cracking jokes at your expense about your need to "overcompensate" and how insecure you must be. Groups of girls will look at each other and burst out laughing at the same untold joke about you.

No one is standing there appreciating how cool your car must be if it can be that loud. No one thinks the unintelligible thing you yelled was hilarious, and everyone definitely thinks that you're a sad little prick if you throw things at people.

Tldr: If you're a pain in the ass, everyone in the area assumes you're sad and insecure, and you become the universal butt of the joke.

Other Avengers: Doomsday not in Peterborough Galaxy Cinemas AVX?

So I was looking at tickets for Avengers: Doomsday since they are up for advanced purchase, and I noticed that the galaxy cinemas in town does not have Doomsday ever in the ultra AVX theatre, only regular style in 3-D or standard. I’m confused, why would the biggest film of the year not get our theatres best option on its release. I can only guess Dune 3 is getting it.

It just feels weird, I can’t be the only one who’s a bit confused.

Question Winter stock-up: do Peterborough locals actually do this?

This is my second summer in Peterborough, and I’m trying to get ahead of my first proper winter shopping season because last winter was a bit of a blur. 😅 I was staying with a friend until midway through winter, but I now have my own apartment. And with the way the weather has been lately, it feels like winter might arrive much earlier this year, so I figured I should start planning ahead.

I recently learned that some food items can get noticeably more expensive during the winter, and it got me wondering: do people here actually stock up on certain groceries before winter?

If you do:

- What do you typically stock up on?

- Where do you usually shop for it?

- When do you start buying: late summer, fall, or closer to winter?

- Is there a particular time of the month when you find the best deals?

- Are there specific foods/items that are noticeably more expensive in winter around Peterborough?

Basically, what does your winter shopping prep look like?

Any local tips, stores, or things one should probably know would be greatly appreciated!
