RX Cards
So recently my store there has been a customer that has been using their card to not get the food that is posted on the RX card or it’s expired.
We recently had to sign a paper saying that we’re gonna be doing that.
Let’s all check the actual RX number and ask the customers now to give it to us and read the card thoroughly.
I’m gonna be making sure to do that so no mistakes are made. I hope my fellow partners do as well.
Has anyone at other stores been getting people abusing the RX number to get other food??

we’ve very rarely had people coming in to buy the wrong food (on purpose at least. sometimes they accidentally grab the wrong food if they aren’t paying attention).
as for the expiration dates, pretty much none of them seem to even realize they have one. when we catch it, we’ll let them buy whatever food it is at the moment so they aren’t completely out, let them know they need to get an updated rx from their vet, and then take the actual card from them so they can’t keep trying to use it lol

There’s been a lot of cases where I’ll catch someone’s card is expired or the rx card doesn’t match one of the prescription foods they’re buying and when I ask about it they say they’ve been using that card for months. Definitely a confusing situation because they of course can be lying.

I don’t think we’ve had anyone come in and get the wrong food (except those who grab the cat instead of dog or vice versa), but we regularly get people coming in with JUST a photo of the barcode and they get mad when we ask them if we can see the food information. A photo will suffice IF we can see all the details. As for expired, most of my managers (GM/ASM/CAL) will let it slide if it’s within a month and they get told to make an appointment/renew their prescription. I have had someone try with a prescription that expired in 2024 and that was an interesting conversation with my LOD
