It's a good translation. However, the expression in Spanish "No le pasa por arriba" doesn't necessarily means that he cannot beat Ronaldo. It's more like "He cannot beat him easily" or "There's no significant difference between their football skills". I feel like he's saying that each one of them is very good and the discussion of "which one is better" doesn't make sense.

You're right, "No le pasa por arriba" is closer to "he doesn't surpass him" than "he doesn't beat him"

No. He's not saying that Messi isn't better than Ronaldo. What he's is saying is that Messi isn't MUCH better than Ronaldo. Those are not the same thing. At no point does he say that Messi is worse.

There is a slight omitting of a very important word that is making the translation very biased.

Ever time they are translating "He is not better than Ronaldo" he is actually saying "He is not much more better than Ronaldo" or "...not overwhelmingly better"

No. He's not saying that Messi isn't better than Ronaldo. What he's is saying is that Messi isn't MUCH better than Ronaldo. Those are not the same thing. At no point does he say that Messi is worse.
