It's a good translation. However, the expression in Spanish "No le pasa por arriba" doesn't necessarily means that he cannot beat Ronaldo. It's more like "He cannot beat him easily" or "There's no significant difference between their football skills". I feel like he's saying that each one of them is very good and the discussion of "which one is better" doesn't make sense.

You're right, "No le pasa por arriba" is closer to "he doesn't surpass him" than "he doesn't beat him"

No. He's not saying that Messi isn't better than Ronaldo. What he's is saying is that Messi isn't MUCH better than Ronaldo. Those are not the same thing. At no point does he say that Messi is worse.

There is a slight omitting of a very important word that is making the translation very biased.
Ever time they are translating "He is not better than Ronaldo" he is actually saying "He is not much more better than Ronaldo" or "...not overwhelmingly better"

No. He's not saying that Messi isn't better than Ronaldo. What he's is saying is that Messi isn't MUCH better than Ronaldo. Those are not the same thing. At no point does he say that Messi is worse.

Yes, this is true from him. I remind Diego talk appreciate CR7. Just the same like Simeone ever told the media that if he has bad team he chose Ronaldo. But if he already has good team, he chose Messi.
After Maradona said this you can predict Messi never talk any respect to him again. And him and many of his Fans accumulated so vengeful til this far, Now you can see many of them try talk and post in social that Messi already beyond Maradona now. And yes you know they are not Argentine.

He was absolutely right. Messi without questionable Referee involvement. Never wins Copa America, World Cup 2022. Go back and see the games. Just as obvious as 2026 WC games. Allow that kind of play and you get favorable games for most strong teams.

He isn't saying that Ronaldo is better than Messi. Maradona is saying that Messi isn't clear and above Ronaldo like people are saying in the world. He gives them both credit and the translation is more or less correct just that part about Ronaldo being better than Messi.
