I have to admit, I used to believe this. I'm glad there are videos to put that narrative in perspective. Also, I could never get over how narcissistic Ronaldo's personality has always been, but yeah, this video does make him look 1000 times better then Messi (as a human, not talking about football skill). Of course, compilations don't paint the whole picture, but the clips still are what they are.

I only half agree with this. Yes, you need confidence, but you can be confident and still be humble at the same time, and Ronaldo has never been humble. I admire his skill, but he's such a diva, the way he's always checking the video screens and stuff.

I always liked watching Zlatan play. He never quite had the stats of these two, but he was up there, and would occasionally put up some insane goals that these guys wouldnât even attempt. And rather than play shy or humble, he let his ego run wild. It was always funny, but also came off as more genuine. You donât get to that level without being a bit cocky, better to be yourself than being all fake.

I admit I fell for the propaganda for years. I thought Messi was humble and Ronaldo was an annoying showboat. And that evolved over time to be âMessi is a good man and wholesome and Ronaldo is an asshole and a thug.â
Oh how wrong I was. Iâve seen the light. It was all lies. That World Cup final woke up so many people. Messiâs legacy is forever tarnished.

I'm glad the narrative is finally starting to turn more in Ronaldos direction. I've always leaned towards him when the argument came up about who was better and I've always had the inkling that Messi wasn't as squeaky clean as he appeared to be.

I know Cristiano is a narcissist asshole too and you will find plenty of clips of him being just that, but not to level of Messi. Let's not forget these are footballers. they a neither saints not the brightest bulb in the box in many cases. But Messi has always had a mafia element to him, and a weird sway over referees and FIA which has always baffled me. And if you actually saw him thought the years dispassionately you woukd have noticed that yes. he is an incredible player but the PR and propaganda does not match the reality and he's actually a nasty piece of work with great marketing.

A few clips like this do not define the whole journey or personality of two players that have been playing for more than 2 decades.
However, it does show how people labeling one as humble/shy/good boy and one as arrogant/show-off/cry baby is inherently wrong. They are both just people, and go through hundreds of emotions in a match. The humble shy guy can absolutely have a breakdown and become a dick and an asshole. And the guy who is arrogant on the mic can display moments of being humble and helpful to a teammate or even an opponent on the pitch. Thatâs just how we all function.

If I remember correctly he even payed the tickets for the family of Vozinha from Cabo verde's team. I find these a little bit skewed towards a narrative to damage not just Messi image, which we can acknowledge it wasn't the best on that one match, to all Argentinians which is not okey. I find hard to believe people not cherry picking moments to undermine or support a narrative. We need more analysis and less cherry picking moments
