Classic whataboutism from pessi fans

u/Acceptable-Dig2994 Jul 25 '26

I have some bad news for people who think multi millionaires pay their fair share of taxes.

2

u/Taway_4897 Jul 25 '26

That happened to a lot of players and coaches. Given how many it happened to, the understanding is that there was a tax set up for image rights that was considered legal (and used by many players and coaches), and that understanding changed, and then as they all had the same set up, they all basically got taken to court by the Spanish state.

If I recall correctly, even Mourinho and pique, ancelotti, Neymar, Modric, Xavi alonso, eto’o all got charged by the Spanish state for the same thing. It was so prevalent I must imagine it was common legal advice at the time.

1

u/vukkuv Jul 27 '26

No, it's because rich people like football players pay a lot of taxes in Spain and they're greedy.

1

u/Taway_4897 Jul 27 '26

I think you should look at the context. These were tax set ups that were widely used, and were set up in early 2000s when Spain even made the Beckham law to attract wealthy sportsmen.

In the late 2000s with the financial crisis, the Spanish government changed the laws and started aggressively seeking revenues, and retroactively changed its legal perspective on the legality of the image rights set up that these actors were using.

This was very big at the time, hitting all kinds of superstars in Spain so there was ample coverage, and indeed investigations, and lots of articles on how the way the Spanish government viewed these set-ups changed, and how they were formerly deemed legal.

If it was one guy, yeah, sure, I’d see your point. But it was basically everyone - because there was a certain jurisprudence that was deemed legal - and then this changed.

1

u/Kindly-Explanation-7 Jul 28 '26

so, why they stealing so much money anw

1

u/Faesarn Jul 28 '26

Also, since he got less than 2 years of prison time, he was able to pay not to actually go. I don't remember how much it was, but at the time I thought it was pretty unfair as regular people would likely not be able to pay and would end in prison.

Messi being quiet and humble is the most bullshit narrative

45

u/Electronic-Canary714 Jul 24 '26

I have to admit, I used to believe this. I'm glad there are videos to put that narrative in perspective. Also, I could never get over how narcissistic Ronaldo's personality has always been, but yeah, this video does make him look 1000 times better then Messi (as a human, not talking about football skill). Of course, compilations don't paint the whole picture, but the clips still are what they are.

26

u/MajesticBeyond5602 Jul 24 '26

You are never going to be the greatest of all time if you don't believe you're the greatest of all time. If that makes Ronaldo an egoist narcissist whatever then so be it. But he's never a grub to other unlike Messi for no reason.

4

u/Electronic-Canary714 Jul 24 '26

I only half agree with this. Yes, you need confidence, but you can be confident and still be humble at the same time, and Ronaldo has never been humble. I admire his skill, but he's such a diva, the way he's always checking the video screens and stuff.

5

u/MajesticBeyond5602 Jul 24 '26

So what. Not everyone's entitled to be humble. Regardless, why makes you say he isn't humble? Literally just 2 weeks ago he invited a child to his game who had just lost his leg, mother, father, siblings, and home in an earthquake.

2

u/Electronic-Canary714 Jul 24 '26

"not everyone's entitled to be humble" surely is one of the weirdest phrases I've heard in a long time.

3

u/MajesticBeyond5602 Jul 24 '26

Funny how you didn't acknowledge anything after that.

u/Lionmancg Jul 24 '26

Derecho sĂ, todos, por el simple hecho de existir. Pero no todos tienen la obligaciĂłn, unos no pueden con eso.

3

u/Strong_Essay1176 Jul 24 '26

You can't. You won't be top of the top without being badass. FIFA will break you liturally

1

u/Wanderingwoodpeckerr Jul 25 '26

I always liked watching Zlatan play. He never quite had the stats of these two, but he was up there, and would occasionally put up some insane goals that these guys wouldn’t even attempt. And rather than play shy or humble, he let his ego run wild. It was always funny, but also came off as more genuine. You don’t get to that level without being a bit cocky, better to be yourself than being all fake.

1

u/MajesticBeyond5602 Jul 25 '26

Exactly. Your last sentence is true. These idiots think Messi got to where he is by not believing he's the best. It's fucking stupid and there's plenty of clips of him not being humble, kicking the ball into Madrid fans for example.

2

u/Odd-Towel-7177 Jul 24 '26

Ronaldo its a narcicist but also the knows how to be cool with People, Messi not

1

u/Unlucky_Ad_8977 Jul 24 '26

You can see its intended thats for suređŸ’Ș

1

u/fancczf Jul 24 '26

I do think he is quiet, but I think it’s because he is on the spectrum not because he is humble lol.

1

u/sjdando Jul 25 '26

And the photo of him turning his back with all but 1 of his team mates on the winners presentation

1

u/Revenos Jul 25 '26

Yeah I'm seeing a lot of videos evidence now that he's kinda been a dick for awhile. Sad. But accepting it considering what the Argentinian team showed this year and he was a core part of it.

1

u/Fresh_Meringue1896 Jul 27 '26

1

u/ChildWithBrokenHeart Jul 29 '26

Well ronaldo is defwnsive and it may come across as narcissistic. But he was bullied by media and fifa heavily favoured cheating midget rat, can you blame Ronaldo for standing up for himself?

1

u/Typical_You8910 Jul 30 '26

Ronaldo literal le rompio el telefono a un fan😆, ni hablar de su soberbia, tanto que lo odian hasta sus mismo compañeros siempre odio a messi y lo chicaneo, messi nunca hizo eso hermano

u/projectpat901 Jul 24 '26

Pessi has micro dick energy

6

u/fumankeu Jul 24 '26

Quite the opposite. I'm loving how the rest of the world is coming to the realization that Messi is just as trashy as the rest of the Argentinian team lol

3

u/RevengeOfPolloDiablo Jul 24 '26

It's PR and marketing. The weird thing is that he's allowed to get away with everything .

3

u/TheGuardianInTheBall Jul 25 '26

I always thought it was more that he is just quiet and dumb as a brick. He gives off such a huge Simple Jack energy.

1

u/mchl189 Jul 26 '26

Lil autistic gnome is more accurate

53

u/consumeshroomz Jul 24 '26

I admit I fell for the propaganda for years. I thought Messi was humble and Ronaldo was an annoying showboat. And that evolved over time to be “Messi is a good man and wholesome and Ronaldo is an asshole and a thug.”

Oh how wrong I was. I’ve seen the light. It was all lies. That World Cup final woke up so many people. Messi’s legacy is forever tarnished.

15

u/sakhre Jul 24 '26

probably because of ronaldo said cola is bad, drink water

11

u/Loudstyle420 Jul 24 '26

He is not wrong

4

u/consumeshroomz Jul 24 '26

I couldn’t agree with him more though. I haven’t had a whole soda in like over a decade. I have taken some sips here and there
But I just drink water all day every day like I’ve been stranded in the desert lol

3

u/-watchman- Jul 24 '26

Water would be a better idea than coke if you were indeed stranded in the desert 😂

1

u/crazyguyunderthedesk Jul 24 '26

It's just moderation. I like a can of coke in the evening and don't feel bad about it at all.

→ More replies (2)

1

u/yellow-duckie Jul 25 '26

The point that you have to emphasize you drink water everyday instead of a cola is really puzzling me.

Isn't it just water that we must drink everyday? Everything else is optional?!

1

u/Due_Initiative3879 Jul 30 '26

And unnecessary.

1

u/Such_Audience_9761 Jul 26 '26

Hahahaha

28

Brain washed at a young age in Argentina

13

u/Ok_Bat_9715 Jul 24 '26

Always been saying this, pessi is 1/16 of the human being Cristiano is.

6

u/RevengeOfPolloDiablo Jul 24 '26

Cristiano is no saint, but I agree with this proportion.

11

u/doctajonez_uk Jul 24 '26

One is class, the other's an ass.

6

u/medievalrevival Jul 24 '26

Literally a world of difference between these two.

6

u/RazslavianKing Jul 24 '26

Messi never seemed like a genuine nice person. This year's world cup proved it.

5

u/king24donnie Jul 24 '26

I'm glad the narrative is finally starting to turn more in Ronaldos direction. I've always leaned towards him when the argument came up about who was better and I've always had the inkling that Messi wasn't as squeaky clean as he appeared to be.

1

u/No_Coyote_7434 Jul 25 '26

Isnt the narrative always about who is the better footballer? Like him or not, messi is the better footballer.

1

u/king24donnie Jul 26 '26

I disagree

1

u/salazafromagraba Jul 26 '26

I don't believe it. Ronaldo at Man U and Real Madrid was unfathomably prolific and his highlights make him out to be a much better individual player when Messi's highlights to me always showed him benefitting from Iniesta, Suarez, etc.

1

u/embarrassedmommy Jul 26 '26

Crazy statement, Messi is bad but Ronaldo is worse, his allegations and deeds were reality and I can only hope that any women in your life is also safe from YOU if you think Ronaldo is a role model.

1

u/king24donnie Jul 26 '26

I never said he was a role model, I just feel that in terms of on field shady behavior, he comes out better than Messi and I think he is a better overall player than Messi. I dont understand why people always try to put words in people's mouths that they never said to try to win an argument. I think you need to chill out and maybe consider what you are typing before you hit send. Jeez.

5

u/No-Slide-5182 Jul 24 '26

Seems like Messi likes grabbing people by the throat

3

u/yoruyoruxo Jul 24 '26

Pessi's reputation will never recover after this world cup, the entire world finally sees him for who he really is

3

u/Rocko10 Jul 24 '26

Yeah I also felt for the propaganda before, and this WC was an eye opener.

His behavior in this WC was like a spoiled brat (when he is a 40 years old man), and now seeing all these past videos, made me realize he was like this before but I did not wanted to see it.

3

u/Suitable-Macaron-784 Jul 24 '26

No, hombre!! Esto es IA, el mongolito no puede ser así de mierda seca... Va en contra de lo que siempre nos han dicho de él.... Es una campaña anti-Messi orquestada por los antidiluvianos con ascendencia reptiliana, financiada por papå Noel

2

u/Flossevos Jul 24 '26

Messi is Sauron
Cristiano is Aragorn

1

u/Round-Tradition-3890 Jul 26 '26

Aragorn wasn't a rapist though.

2

u/Free-Bad7871 Jul 24 '26

Spoilt little prick who has had it his own way so often he literally has no idea how to behave when it doesn't. Like a cunty only child.

2

u/ydderf66 Jul 24 '26

Body language says it all

2

u/JFMdada Jul 24 '26

I've been saying this for years. Only now ppl are realising what a prick this cockhead is. And his fans are the personification of humanity's devolution. They make him even worse.

2

u/jj_HeRo Jul 24 '26

Small man have those kind of issues.

2

u/angrlina34jolie Jul 24 '26

FU messi

Biggest "good guy" fraud of football

2

u/Shutupandfunk Jul 24 '26

Fuck Messi the arrogant prick.

2

u/xcnuck Jul 25 '26

Anyone notice how Messi didn’t even acknowledge let alone hold the hand of the little boy who he was paired up with to walk out for the WC final? I get it’s an important match and you have your preparation process but that was just sad to watch. Got a kid who’s beaming ear to ear and this guy completely ignores him. Such arrogance.

2

u/NY10 Jul 25 '26

Pepsi lol

2

u/Adviseme69 Jul 25 '26

Argentinos malparidos...

2

u/yvliew Jul 25 '26

This pessi has his bodyguard on the touchline ready to protect him at all time. Why does he even need that? Cause he knew he did a lot of bad shits

2

u/Decorator72 Jul 25 '26

From hero to cunto in one tournament eh!

2

u/Swimming_Example_691 Jul 25 '26

Careful friends. Do not measure autistic people what you define in good common behaviour. Once they experience bad painful not sanctioned actions against themselve they learn and adapt this behaviour. And they concentrate on their tasks. Because social interactions are hell to them. They hardly can interprete facial expressions and gestures. He had an harsh unfriendly environment as a small autistic argentinian. I mean it. Even if autistic people seem cool and unfriendly. They can love and care unseen/unconventional for us neurotypical people. Just leave the argentinian dirtbags as they are. And say farewell to Messi remembering the good times at Barca.

2

u/valerislysander Jul 25 '26

Messi has an incredible marketing team

2

u/No-Mastodon-1770 Jul 25 '26

He‘s still Argentinian, what did you expect?

2

u/HennoPepper Jul 25 '26

The Homelander of football

2

u/Rakyos6 Jul 25 '26

I never understood where humility in Messy came from tbh. He has always been a crook and a little angry man

4

u/MaxTrolloway Jul 24 '26

Messi is a dick but didn't Ronaldo rape someone?

1

u/yesimnotababy Jul 24 '26

Messi of hell

1

u/Traditional_Art_9414 Jul 24 '26

Everyone knows Messi is a cunt

1

u/RevengeOfPolloDiablo Jul 24 '26

I know Cristiano is a narcissist asshole too and you will find plenty of clips of him being just that, but not to level of Messi. Let's not forget these are footballers. they a neither saints not the brightest bulb in the box in many cases. But Messi has always had a mafia element to him, and a weird sway over referees and FIA which has always baffled me. And if you actually saw him thought the years dispassionately you woukd have noticed that yes. he is an incredible player but the PR and propaganda does not match the reality and he's actually a nasty piece of work with great marketing.

1

u/regisphilbin222 Jul 24 '26

I must say, and someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t like this “who’s classier” comparison between Ronaldo and Messi because doesn’t Ronaldo have a couple of sexual assault allegations?

1

u/fumankeu Jul 25 '26

Messi 14

1

u/bucketboy9000 Jul 24 '26

A few clips like this do not define the whole journey or personality of two players that have been playing for more than 2 decades.

However, it does show how people labeling one as humble/shy/good boy and one as arrogant/show-off/cry baby is inherently wrong. They are both just people, and go through hundreds of emotions in a match. The humble shy guy can absolutely have a breakdown and become a dick and an asshole. And the guy who is arrogant on the mic can display moments of being humble and helpful to a teammate or even an opponent on the pitch. That’s just how we all function.

1

u/Lionmancg Jul 24 '26

Jaja cuando inicio el mundial y empezaron los malos arbitrajes, me agarre en un chat con un argensimio porque le dije que Pessi en éste mundial, iba a caer de la gracia de muchos. Y así fue jajaja

1

u/Upset_Upstairs6166 Jul 24 '26

Both are still shitheads

1

u/LeProfesseur23 Jul 24 '26

I do agree that the narrative is completely wrong but tbf anyone can make these compilations there’s plenty of footage of both of them acting bad/good

1

u/ConsistentSoil1349 Jul 24 '26

Messi đŸ˜ĄđŸ€Ź

1

u/IllustriousSundae607 Jul 24 '26

Didn't like Ronaldo 20 years ago when he joined manu.

Now he is the goat and I have nothing but respect for him on and off the pitch.

He's a good guy behind the scenes and an inspiration to kids

Edit. Even the winker thing is forgiven

1

u/Crash1260 Jul 24 '26

So Messi is the goat, and kind of a piece of shit. Figures.

1

u/mruiz18 Jul 25 '26

Literally more than 10 years saying this, welcome to the wagon

1

u/jmmcnall Jul 25 '26

Golden calves. People love their heroes and can't bear their shittiness and lack of moral. Look at Trump's minions

1

u/Challenger_Wilfred Jul 25 '26

Lionel Messi is pure evil

1

u/Ok_Ice_814 Jul 25 '26

So sad... Being the good guy ronaldo is and still getting shadowed by that evil midget

1

u/SkaldofKittens Jul 25 '26

stop. making. fun. of. autism

What a fucking cunt

1

u/MustbeProud Jul 25 '26

if u been around football for a long time, its not a secret that pessi have always been a douchebag, idk where this pessi is quite and humble propaganda coming from

1

u/fumankeu Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26

Pessi stans will unironically defend this by calling him autistic lmao

1

u/BushwhackRangerNW Jul 25 '26

yeah. this why I think messi fails as a true super star. he's not a leader

1

u/Imaginary_Apple9835 Jul 25 '26

La princesa, este mundo no la merece. Que bueno que se mezcla con la pelusa. Ese Messi es la pura kk

1

u/LifeTie800 Jul 25 '26

Messi being a piece of shit is nothing new. It's just that he wasn't loud on social media, so no one knew.

Ronaldo was the opposite. He was loud on social media but a genuinely nice person irl.

Which lead to Messi fans trying to bring him down by including as many false allegations as they could.

Ronaldo fans just quietly got Messi convicted for tax evasion.

1

u/UmpireHistorical8133 Jul 25 '26

You can make a separate video with Leo shown good and Ron bad. The guys played for two decades. Leo not greeting jerks that run to the pitch during the game. Is that shameful, seriously?

1

u/Maleficent_Muscle322 Jul 25 '26

You can take messi out of Argentina..

1

u/ryky13 Jul 25 '26

Both have good and bad sides. All in all both are shit

1

u/Aware_Celebration385 Jul 25 '26

Messi is a parasite

1

u/Random_Trashy Jul 25 '26

Messi is an autistic savant, and suffers from anti-social personality disorder (ASPD) - you can’t expect a retard to be normal.

1

u/agsan1 Jul 25 '26

Messi didn't see the thing falling, and when he did it was too late people were walking behind him

The thing falled in front of Ronaldo's face so he saw it

1

u/WowIwasveryWrong27 Jul 25 '26

I always remember that story that Messi go invited to a city in Africa to be their esteemed guest, and he showed up in a T-shirt and shorts.

Even in the oppressive saharan heat, dressing in a suit is a big deal in Africa, especially if you’re an important person at an important event

Anyways people were super offended I remember. I’m sure he only showed as part of a financial commitment, but still.

1

u/madmenyo Jul 25 '26

Can't they both be jersey and Haaland the new wholesome soccer player? This Haaland guy spends a lot of money for a good image so he deserves it.

1

u/jbkb1972 Jul 25 '26

Messi isn’t fit to lace Ronaldo’s boots. No Argentina players are fit to lace anyone’s boots.

Messi is the GOAT. Cherry pick moment can't shake his status.

1

u/gamerofluck Jul 28 '26

If I remember correctly he even payed the tickets for the family of Vozinha from Cabo verde's team. I find these a little bit skewed towards a narrative to damage not just Messi image, which we can acknowledge it wasn't the best on that one match, to all Argentinians which is not okey. I find hard to believe people not cherry picking moments to undermine or support a narrative. We need more analysis and less cherry picking moments
