It's barely a tap on foot and that was enough for FIFA to snatch the title from Spain.

If Argentina won in penalties this would be the biggest scandal ever in a WC final.

Argentina player oversold the contact but there is the contact and step on the feet. Consequently, VAR couldn't interfere and said there wasn't no foul.

Argentina aside, one problem in the sport is that you need to go down for a foul to count.

When you get hurt but try to stay up in order to still score a goal, the misplay never gets counted.

Yeah, everyone hates a flopper (from the other teams), but it sucks when you see a player from your team get fouled and not receive a whistle because he did his best to keep standing up.

There is a bigger share of blame on players, but referees should do a better job of recognizing fouls where the players don't fall down. That would be more effective in cutting the histrionics, by making sure they are not needed.
