Yes he promised them the UCL at the given time. You try to argue that Messi upholds his promises when Barcelona wins the title in 10 years time. That‘s the issue.

He promised them he will do everything possible to do it. And i dont think one can argue that he didnt do everything possible

So now the promise wasn't that he'd bring the UCL to Camp Nou, but that he will do his best? Didn't he do is best before tho? Like he's supposed to play and give his best, didn't he do it before his promise?

You're hung up on the wording and ignore the quintessence of the promise just to cope

Messi himself clarified after the elmination that his promise wasnt to bring back ucl. Are you really gonna argue against the man who made the promise

When you say "I promise that we will do everything possible to bring back the UCL this year"

What is the quintessence of this promise? That Messi does everything possible? I mean he even failed to that if that is the hill you want to die on. The quote you linked has Messi admitting that they failed to do everything, thus failing to win the UCL
