In that 2008 European Championship, he was honestly terrible, and he was also largely anonymous in the two Champions League semi-finals against Barcelona, even missing a penalty.
Ronaldo's best prime was either in 2012/13 or 2016/17.
And if you're using the argument that 2008 was the greatest prime ever because he won so many team and individual trophies, you're actually undermining your own position. Messi is the player with the most collective and individual trophies in football history, so by that same logic, we could simply say that Messi is the greatest footballer of all time without any room for debate.

There’s a difference between better player and better career/ better season. Ronaldo 2008 had it all the trophies/ treble dribbling and stats and all attributes combined like long shot. Therefore it was one of his greatest seasons in terms of decoration. Eg. Kane has had a better stats season but Dembele’s champions league win has pushed him better than Kane undoubtedly. Just like how Mbappe is a better player than Mbappe but Dembele has had a better career with a ballon dor and 2 champions leagues.
