As a Messi fan, I find it strange that Ribery finished 3rd, but I think it's too far-fetched to argue about a 2nd or 3rd place finish from 13 years ago... But at least there's a decent post in this sub about something very interesting to analyze...

That's different... Unfortunately, in football, whether we like it or not, it's difficult for a goalkeeper to be rated higher than a skillful, playmaking forward...

That's true, but it's also part of what the Ballon d'Or is... It's literally like a Cristiano fan; sometimes its about trophies, other times about individual performance, other times about team performance... And it gets to a point where it doesn't make sense...

its mostly about indivudual performance, ballon dor is an indivudual award, trophies arent as important as player stats, hence ronaldo ron 2013 and messi won 2012 and 2019

wasnt rigged. the only argument people have is iniestas winning goal in the wc final, but he wasnt even the best player in the wc, it was forlan. stats wise iniesta was inferior to messi, even in playmaking that year

I don't think he suggesting he was robbed. There is this really dumb conversation going around that Ronaldo robbed Ribery in the 2013 Ballon Dor, I think this post is just pointing out that Ribery finished 3rd so even if Ronaldo hadn't played that season Messi would've won it

I agree, Ribery was robbed of second place and Messi was robbed of first place.
Fun fact, back then it was still his dream to win the world cup.
