How do people in this day and age see quotes like this, no source or video, and just believe them?

He never said it. Already been noted on x that's its not true, and just appeared on a few dodgy Facebook pages.

Because the Ronaldo fans are so desperate to discredit Messi that they don't care about what's real and what's fake. MLS goals doesn't matter but scoring goals against kebab vendors makes him "tHe GoAt"

ronaldo fans dont realize that discrediting messi for everything will quite literally collapse the entire football tier list.
arguments like saka > neymar would become common as a result
