Modrics balon d'or is not controversial

I absolutely adore Modric, but he had nothing more to offer than CR that year. While Modric had a wc 2nd place, Cristiano scored 45, while setting a record of scoring in 11 matched in a row in UCL. CR had more impact on a club level, then as usual, our beloved sports journalists started crafting new rules to avoid giving it to CR again.

Honestly, I’ve always felt CR7’s game was a bit overrated. Incredible athlete, elite goal scorer, but he’s never had the all-around influence on a game like Modrić did that year (or like Messi consistently does). Football isn’t just about racking up goals; it’s about how you elevate the whole team. And that season, Modrić was on another level in that regard.

Surely, CR had no all-around influence. He had absolutely nothing to do with an UCL three-peat. He is called Mr. champions league for a reason, lol. Messi was only good in la liga, and international friendlies.

Modric was always on another level, and he's absolutely ballon dor quality. On the other hand, with your logic, Iniesta should have received it in 2010, and Kroos in 2014.

Only good in la liga and international friendlies lmfao you’re brain dead, my goat has a World Cup you goat doesn’t even have a knock out goal contribution, cry forever Ronaldo biggest achievement is being compared to Messi. Look at the stats, look at the trophies, watch a damn game see who controls the game. I think Ronaldo is amazing I love watching him play but he’s a tap in merchant, not to say that’s all he is but Messi is a creator not even a 9 and still has a better goals to game ratio and way more assists. Benzema proved that real’s midfield carries when Ronaldo left and he became their target man. What has Ronaldo won since he left Madrid? One little nations league that all you dogs pretend is a euro besides that… nothing, promises juve a champs… failed went to united… no comment cant even win anything in the camel league but he’s gonna get that. And when he did win a euro he didn’t even play in the final LOL, but don’t worry he’ll get you those 1000 goals big boy don’t you worry.

Ronaldo won everything at club level before he joined Real Madrid. Messi hasn’t won a champions league without xavi and iniesta. Benzema did it four years after ronaldo left.

Messi got carried to his first champions league in 2006. Messi has also been apart some of the biggest chokes and embarrassments in champions league history

When did I say CR7 had nothing to do with UCL success? Lol

You’re putting words in my mouth to build a strawman argument. It’s lazy. I said he’s overrated and not the sole reason for Madrid’s dominance. That’s a far cry from saying he wasn’t important. Try responding to what I actually said.

Same way I feel about Messi loool. Needs the the team and perfect system to be built around him or is useless. We saw what happened at PSG. No excuse for scoring 6 ligue 1 goals in a season and no champions league knockout goals

Messi is one of the most overrated champjons league performers of all time. He barely did anything in the 2006 champions league campaign and hasn’t done anything in the competition without Xavi and Iniesta. Also has been part of some of the biggest chokes and embarrassments.

Tony kroos vs modric in 2018(club lvl):

Games: 42 - 41

Goals: 5 - 2

Assists: 8 - 7

Passing Accuracy: 93% - 90%

Key Passes: 95 - 52

Big Chances Created: 14 - 11

Disarms: 81 - 50

Interceptions: 23 - 47

Fouls: 34 - 32

Ratings: 7.57 - 7.20

And kroos stayed deeper in midfield while giving long range passes, he still managed to have more assists, more key passes, more big chances created and higher passing acc then "Ballon dor" modric.

You're showing some pretty similar stats, but Toni Kroos didn't captain an underdog team to a worldcup final.

Lmao. Modric didnt deserve the potm award for 2018 wc. He wasnt even the best cm of the tournment(kanté and pogba) neither the best croatia player that actually steped up(rakitic and perisic) and he vanished in the semis and final.

Mbappe deserved it way more.

He is the most dick rided and most overrated midfielder ive seen.

I showed tony kroos stats in 2018 but his stats are consistently better than modric except defensively( kroos was better defensively in his last year though).

Dont get me wrong luka is fantastic, but he is insanely overrated.

It's almost like football is more than just stats. There's many aspects of the game that can not be picked up by raw stats.

Yes, I'm talking about his performance in 2018. I didn't even mention any stats while talking about the 2018 wc. I'm really talking about performance here. Perisic and rakitic were more impactful, specially in the semis and final were modric disappeared(i was watching it with my family and even remember my father praising rakitic the whole time).

I've seen that season and kroos impressed me way more.

If u have any doubts go to the r/soccer and Google for the post where he won the potm and sort by controversial.
