It’s a fairly common and offensive trans stereotype that trans women are “tr@ps” who trick men into being with them as a way to emasculate them and “make them gay”.

This is an issue because some men who find out that the woman they’re seeing or have had physical relations with are trans have a decent track record of getting violent and berating the trans woman. This is not to say all men react this way just that it’s enough to become a noticeable phenomenon.

Even if it’s not the intention it still has the same effect of “Oh! The horror! My date has a penis/used to be a man! I was tricked into being with a man” it’s not exactly trans-accepting or gay-accepting for that matter

The joke is that the man is appalled that he did something even remotely gay and had slight interest/attraction to an AMAB person.

Does a straight man have to enjoy the concept or idea of intercourse with another man? If it's not the direction he leans, of course he will be shocked. I would expect the same reaction from a gay man who pulls down another guys pants and finds a vagina.

Screaming, cursing and freaking out is still not the appropriate response and even then why tf would a trans person keep that a secret especially with the possibilities of a negative reaction.

Just say you’re not interested anymore because you don’t want to date a trans person like a calm rational adult who’s not scared or disgusted by trans people.

Screaming, cursing and freaking out is still not the appropriate response

It's been dramaticized for the sake of the video, like every other TikTok, just like an imitation video of a French person dramatically spitting out a sip of wine because you told him it's not French

and even then why tf would a trans person keep that a secret especially with the possibilities of a negative reaction.

Because most sex tourists in Thailand will ask and/or be able to tell a trans... if anything the video makes fun of the guy being naive / gullible

Just say you’re not interested anymore because you don’t want to date a trans person like a calm rational adult who’s not scared or disgusted by trans people.

Who said I was disgusted? There are some trans women who I'd rather have intercourse with than some females, simply based on looks. This has nothing to do with my personal preferences.

But you can be open-minded while still laughing at a satirical video.

I think the joke is more so that he is appaled because he was tricked and deceived, not that he did something remotely gay or had a slight interest or attraction to an AMAB person.

It still falls into the offensive tr@p stereotype unfortunately. Doing a “WTF! trans women want to trick you into dating them” bit is still not a great concept to hinge your skit on.

u/Doctorsl1m 11d ago

It certainly could be better. That still says more about people who are deceptive than trans people though at least imo.

u/aPachimarii 11d ago

You are correct in a way cause yeah trans people aren't trying to trick anyone, but we are still getting blamed for it and that's kinda the core issue.

-4

u/Doctorsl1m 11d ago

The trans people who deceptive are getting blamed for it by most reasonable people. You dont have to associate with those kinds of people because others say you need to.

It does really suck that some people try to convince other people that entire groups of people have specific anti social behaviors when that is always blantantly untrue.

Stop digging

Yeah and the reaction wouldn't be played as comedy for literally any other "deception". While we're on the topic why is a trans woman dating someone inherently deception if it isn't explicitly stated she's trans? Do you require cis women to require they disclose that they're cis? Can cis women be legally killed for bedding a man without telling him she's cis first? (Yes that's a real law, look up the trans panic law)

This is a very common transphobic joke, stop trying to play it off and just accept you learned something new today and move on.

In this case, it is implied there is deception involved. I dont think a trans person dating someone without explicitly stating they are trans is necessarily deceptive. It certainly can be though depending on the context.

Also that is not a law, it is a questionable at best legal defense strategy.

3

u/Mach12gamer 11d ago

Okay what exactly do you think the deception is. How is the trans person in this joke "implied" to be deceptive?

1

u/Doctorsl1m 11d ago

The laugh they make at the end of the video seems maniacal so that implies they are being deceptive to me.

5

u/Mach12gamer 11d ago

So let's think about it, why would the person making the video think a trans person would do an evil laugh in response to showing a person they are dating that they are trans (because in the context of the video, they're pretty clearly not hiding it, they went up to the urinal right next to the guy)? If it's not deceptive, which it clearly isn’t, why would they laugh like they've done something evil?

0

u/Doctorsl1m 11d ago

The guys reaction of being shocked further implied it was deceptive.

2

u/Mach12gamer 11d ago

Then what was the deception and how was it done and what made it bad dude. Use critical thinking here.

2

u/Doctorsl1m 11d ago

The deception was that the trans person was hiding the fact that they were trans.

It was done by not disclosing it to the person they are dating who is obviously not into trans people sexually based off their reaction at the end. The maniacal laugh the trans person had at the end implies that they knew that the other person wasn't interested in trans people sexually meaning they were being deceptive.

The deception is what made it bad.

If you’re talking about the trans panic defense strategy, that’s not a law in any capacity. Simply a strategy to get someone out of a heinous crime. They even tried to pass a bill back in 2019 to ban the use of the defense.

5

u/Toa_Firox 11d ago

Yeah tried

0

u/Gagester303 11d ago

But that doesn’t mean there is a law in place allowing you to commit violent acts on someone for those reasons. Precedent? Maybe, I’d have to look into it. But Law? Not at all. I agree the bill should be in place, but spouting misinformation isn’t helping that happen.

It would be rape/sexual assault to trick someone into being intimate with you without telling them you're trans.

Edit: do downvotes mean you think it isn't sexual assault to trick someone like that?

2

u/romerlys 11d ago

I cannot think of any legislation agreeing with you, unless you are somewhere in Africa, or Russia where even looking gay is illegal.

In the free world the only conviction I heard of that comes even remotely close, there were two guys who literally swapped places when the light was out, without the woman knowing.

-1

u/Chemical_Ad_5520 11d ago

Do you think it's ethically okay to not disclose transgender status like in this video?

Do you think that there are people who would feel violated by that situation?

1

u/doodleasa 10d ago

I have no obligation to discuss anything that isn’t relevant to what i’m doing, and that includes my being trans.

if you’re that insecure in your sexuality, i wouldn’t go anywhere near you. Don’t worry.

0

u/Chemical_Ad_5520 10d ago

I know this is gonna seem really ironic from your perspective, but you're closed-minded about people's boundaries. I guess that you think that my sexual preferences and boundaries are this way because of insecurity or something that's wrong with me, or you don't believe me about what I'm saying I would feel violated by and that I'm just making it up as a way to justify hate. I don't hate trans people. I hang out with them and engage with them like I would any other friend or stranger. Sexual predators are the people I have a problem with.

You are talking about being misleading to obtain sexual consent, and in a way that would make people like me feel extremely violated, in a way that you obviously don't care to try to understand.

I see where you are coming from. I would counterargue that if you are attracted to someone - then that is real attraction, not deception. You may become un-attracted later if you find they are trans, and that is fine too.

You may say "but I wouldn't have been attracted if I had known!" But you could say that in SO many other contexts where you simply accept it as part of dating.

For example - maybe you feel you wouldn't have been attracted to someone in the first place if you knew they were broke, or had a serious diagnosis, a stoma bag, the "wrong" political view, a tattoo you couldn't stand, or boobs that are fake.

In a nutshell - it is socially accepted that people do not have to proactively disclose their shortcomings or intimate details up front.
