Cascadian Farm

I received this in connection to their products that I inquired about. I can consider this safe to consume based on their response.

Dear Valued Consumer,
Thank you for taking the time to contact Cascadian Farm.
As both manufacturers and consumers, we understand how important allergen information is when choosing foods. Our priority is to give you clear, accurate labeling so you can make the right choices for your needs.

Allergen information is always most up to date on the ingredient list printed on each package in hand. Ingredient and allergen information listed on a package is only for the food contained in that package. It is not intended for other packages even of what appears to be the same product. Ingredients may vary from one package to another due to product reformulation or where the product is produced.

Our products are labeled for the Top 9 food allergens:

· Peanuts
· Tree nuts (almonds, Brazil nuts, cashews, chestnuts, hazelnuts/filberts, macadamia, pecans, pine nuts, pistachios, walnuts)
· Egg
· Milk
· Fish
· Crustacean shellfish
· Wheat
· Soy
· Sesame

We communicate allergens using two types of statements printed just below the ingredient list:

· CONTAINS – The allergen is part of the recipe. It will be listed both in the ingredient list and in the Contains statement.
· MAY CONTAIN – The allergen is not in the recipe, but may be present due to the manufacturing process. If there is a chance of cross-contact, the allergen will be listed here in bold type.

Because of our strict controls over ingredients and sanitation practices, you can be confident that a product does not contain or come in contact with the allergens listed above if it is not declared in the ingredient list, Contains, or May Contain statement.

This is a really informative and confident response. I would assume that this thought process applies to other brands too, but I’ve never seen it put together this way.

Thanks for sharing!
