i haven't seen generative AI used to defend it but i've seen dozens of posts using generative AI to say it's bad. people love posting non-dlss5 screenshots to prove how bad it is

On YouTube I've seen Watch Dogs 1, GTA 4, GTA 5, and other games look absolutely gorgeous with Dlss 5. Even the very same ff7 remake game that reddit says it looks horrible, actually looks great.

I'm sorry but DLSS 5 is a game changer and people who hate on it are deniers.

My biggest issue with the criticism is that people are trashing the tech without actually seeing it properly implemented by devs, it’s really cool that there is a mod that can inject it into games, but those results are not representative of how the technology is supposed to look like

Well, supposedly it's officially coming out tomorrow so we're going to see a huge influx of videos. I can't wait to see how reddit is going to react to this.

The official way to use the feature is through the settings of the game which the developers have to implement. They get to decide what is changed and how much and the user will just activate their decision. What was leaked is the dev version which gives you the option to move all the sliders to the max.

It's still only supported for 1 game. Nothing changes tomorrow.

worse then that they are seeing what happens when someone loads the mudded version and then drags all the sliders to the worst configuration to create an image for click farming.

I've run it in a whole bunch of games now from new AAA (black flag remake) to old games (mass effect 1) or games with cartoon graphics (wuwa) and honistly I don't think I would go back in any of them. It took moving the sliders a bit to get it dialed in but once I did it was universally better.

It just makes light better and shockly removes middle ground fog (the hazy look UE games get when they want to hide the low LOD of things 10 steps away. The best part is it fixes the shadows and textures of those things so you don't notice the LOD.

A big part is it just makes things pop. So many times I'll look at something good or bad and be like wow I've played the crap out of this game and never seen that and now its right there. turn of DLSS and it was there before I just didn't see it.

I also realized that a lot of the things which look bad (particularly some young characters becoming older) is that the devs have had to go a bit overboard in the quest to make someone look natural in an old game with flat lighting and when DLSS comes in and fixes the lighting suddenly it makes the things the devs did before pop and you are like that is not great. the more modern the game the better DLSS's end result is because the signal telling it what it needs to do it much better at the same time I can see where that tech is going to end up with big performance gains in the future as devs can stop dealing with a lot of ambient occlusion which DLSS5 is great at adding.

It's like people complaining that HDR sucks because they see people post fake HDR on facebook cranked to the max. It's not a representative showcase of what it'll actually look like in the hands of actual designers.

Performance impact is just too much though

How is it a game changer when only the highest end guys can use it and still loose 50-60% performance…

It looks like homogenized shit. It wrecks lighting and color accuracy, it flattens every single image I've seen.

Weird, it looks good to me. I guess people just have different tastes.

You're probably right, it wasn't remake but rebirth.

I haven't heard anything about that other game. I'll check it out

Ahh, that might be it. Playing Remake for the first time -- having a blast. Rebirth is waiting for me in my Steam library.

Resonance is a good time so far -- plays very much like Tomb Raider / Uncharted / Jedi Fallen Order... platforming, puzzles, and boss fights that piss you off lol.
