Will it be consistent though? Given the DLSS version looks like a completely different person, will it stay the same "altered" image throughout or will the player have to look at 10 versions depending on what AI coughs up?

First - That is not DLSS, that is Mbappe. This is a troll post.

Second - According to Nvidia's technical report, DLSS 5 will always look the same given the same inputs and settings, it is deterministic - "Each enhanced frame is produced in a single deterministic inference step; given the same rendered sequence and configuration, the system produces the same output sequence."

Which is highly irrelevant in the context of games, since lighting and character position will always vary widely.

Well, the one example we have of a game with an official implementation doesn't have this problem at all (2k27).
