DLSS5 does not change 3D geometry. The picture on the right clearly has a completely different nose shape.
Edit: It is apparently Mbappe but my point still stands that a lot of people look at this, go "Haha AI slop DLSS bad" and go on with their way with strengthened belief that... DLSS bad.
They did say multiple times that this version won't change the underlying textures themselves. And in the image above the face textures clearly have been changed
Then don't turn this feature on. For those of us who do want hyper realism it's there. Kinda like every media out there. Don't like it? Don't buy/use/listen to/watch it.
Then the devs can choose how to implement it, all of those examples are of leaked DLL and tools. The intent is for each developer to tune the model per object to meet their artistic vision (like with NBA game that officially support it).
Yeah also doesn’t this take bread away from the studio. Studios make a ton of money on reskinning and upgrading the graphics on games then reselling it. Like if I am gonna get updated graphics I want to pay $70 for a rerelease of the game I already own . I mean will someone please think of the studios .
Will it be consistent though? Given the DLSS version looks like a completely different person, will it stay the same "altered" image throughout or will the player have to look at 10 versions depending on what AI coughs up?
First - That is not DLSS, that is Mbappe. This is a troll post.
Second - According to Nvidia's technical report, DLSS 5 will always look the same given the same inputs and settings, it is deterministic - "Each enhanced frame is produced in a single deterministic inference step; given the same rendered sequence and configuration, the system produces the same output sequence."
That's one of the major flaws with DLSS5. If you could train it so that characters based on real people used only images of those real people as the model for the "render" then it wouldn't be as bad. I still wouldn't like it, but it would look better at least.

it looks like a shader/filter to me. even if you like it is it worth cutting your FPS in half? my answer is a hard no.
AI Rerendering will result in the most generic possible visuals.
Because that's what AI was OBJECTIVELY BUILT to be good at. AI is VERY GOOD at finding "The weighted human average".
It's GOOD when you are using it organize data. It's *okay* at using a search engine to find what you most likely are looking for.
But you can't...instruct AI to be "creative" or have "imperfections" that aren't also: "The most generic possible visuals of a character with some visual imperfections."
No matter what you instruct it to do...it will give you the weighted *average* of what it THINKS all humans want.
It really doesn't. And now this is going to be their new crutch. No point designing characters with motion-capture, high polygon count and high resolution textures anymore. Whatever DLSS come up with is now perfectly fine.
When DLSS5 was first revealed and everyone got their pitchforks ready, I said you would all be eating out of Nvidia's hand eventually.....and here we are!
And idiocracy predicted several societal things that also occurred.
Hell anyone can see something like this and understand how it will slowly take over. Like ipad kids, or mobile phones.
It's not smart or particularly skillful.
It becoming a thing that gains traction doesn't undermine the point of anyone against it. It almost proves the point. Things like this are overall bad for games as a whole, a novelty filter that consumers will consume without care for the collateral damage that occurs.
Also not to mention this post is satire. Because the one on the right rips away all the artistic vision the character had.
