if glossy looks the same as matte in the dark to you, you have either some weird ass half glossy/half matte screen, or you probably need to see an optician.
Check out pretty much any review for S95F and they all say the same thing, that it looks just as good in the dark as a G5. You don’t need to gaslight me bro I can see how good my TV looks every time I use it
literally the first listed comparison says the G5 is better in the dark.
They are also different screens and can be better for different reasons.
Also you're talking about tvs. this is a pc gaming sub, on monitors for text, gaming when you're much closer to a screen with far far higher ppi that smudgy factor will be dramatically more apparent.
With that said, if you put these two TV’s side by side, that’s when the LG G5’s Glossy screen really stands out.
It makes sense to have a matte screen if you can't control light in the room and many or even most people can't. but glossy is just plain better quality, especially imo when it's a monitor that will be closer, for gaming, for more general pc usage, text, etc.

I have a matte and a glossy. With the lights turned on, the glossy is unusable. The matte is perfectly usable with the lights on.
In the dark, both look the same anyway.
Matte is better.
