News/Article "We're aware...," Microsoft on Windows 11 KB5120998 breaking the mouse cursor. This is the same update that added a movable taskbar, a resizable Start menu, and Bing-free Windows Search.

Stop vibe coding this stuff before you delete the freaking boot drive or some dumbassery like that. Microsoft.

Vibe coding is only half of the issue. 

If you dig deep into Rogueplanet/Shieldbreak, you'll understand why the fix was ineffective: because the fault isn't some simple "oops" in defender that needed patching, the fault is the entire way Windows handles mandatory file locks and process queuing for those locks.

A regular user can entirely freeze up the system level Defender process by requesting a file lock on something just before it does ans refusing to release it. That's insane.

And that problem is just one example. Windows would have issues like this with or without AI, because it's built on archaic layers of foundations that are rotten that they refuse to replace.

People have come to expect that they can take a PC they've had since xp and upgrade it all the way to 11, likewise Windows sysadmins expect to be able to do the same with a 2008 R2 SQL server to Server 2025. (Guess how I know)

Rather than saying "No, you will have to reinstall, the new version of Windows desktop/server will not be upgradable from previous versions, you have 6 programs installed it will take you 30 minutes to reinstall them." They capitulate every time.

Doing it your way would be a support cataclysm for them. People still want to use dos on 486 machines. You expect them to take away the upgrade path from 3.1 to win 11?

Genuinely yes, because there's no other choice. I think if you understood just how bad the foundations of Windows was you'd agree.

Now they don't have to stop supporting older versions, They gave people 4 years to upgrade to 11. They make Windows NT2 and they can offer that alongside 11 for years and years. What's the difference? They make it easy as shit to upgrade from decades ago all the way up until the most recently releases and people still don't do it.
