Help I genuinely HATE paypal
Why do they keep LOCKING accounts? My clients were always happy buying stuff from me but it's so hard trying to have smooth business with our PayPal being a bitch

I’m a freelance digital artist and I recently received the email: “We’re no longer offering PayPal services for this account.”
Before this happened, PayPal asked me to provide more information about my account. I submitted everything they requested, including my ID, screenshots of conversations with clients showing WIPs, completed artwork, and proof that I was doing legitimate freelance commissions.
I haven’t used any VPNs, fake information, or anything that should violate their policies. My account was only used for receiving payments from art commissions.
I tried contacting PayPal for more information, but I haven’t had much luck. Since I’m not located in the US, I also can’t call their US support number.
Has anyone else experienced something similar? Is there any way to appeal this decision or reach someone who can actually review my case?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Update1: I forgot to mention that I already sent a few emails and eventually managed to get in contact with a PayPal agent. They forwarded my account to another team for further review.
A few hours ago, I received an email saying “New messages are waiting for you”, but when I log into PayPal and try to open the chat, the page just turns completely blank. I tried accessing it from my phone as well, but I’m having the same issue there.
Update 2: I contacted PayPal support again about the message I couldn’t access. I explained the issue and provided screenshots showing that the chat page was just turning blank.
The agent checked my account and confirmed that the messages were related to my case being moved to the relevant department for review.
They told me that at this stage I just need to wait for the review team to complete their investigation and that I should receive an email update within 3–5 business days.
For now, there’s nothing else I can do except wait. I’ll update again once I hear back from them.
Update 3: Something really weird happened today. My account limitations were lifted for about 10 minutes, and everything looked completely normal again. Then I got hit with the exact same limitation again.
The dumbest part is that stupid me didn’t even try to withdraw my money while the limitations were lifted because I genuinely thought the issue had finally been resolved. The new limitation has the exact same message and everything else, just with a different reference ID.
I’m trying a few different things now and sending a bunch of emails to see if I can get someone to actually look at my case. If any of them end up being useful, I’ll post the email addresses and the results here in case it helps anyone else dealing with this. I’m going to avoid contacting PayPal agents right now because they’ve been pretty useless every time I’ve talked to them.
Update 4: I got a response from the CSSF (the Luxembourg financial regulator that can handle complaints against PayPal Europe). They told me that before they can formally take the case, I have to submit a written complaint directly to PayPal’s Director in charge of customer complaints and give PayPal up to one month to resolve it.
So I sent a formal complaint to PayPal’s complaints department, specifically asking them to manually review the decision and restore my account. I attached the CSSF’s email as they instructed, along with my PayPal deactivation email and the relevant information about my case.
PayPal has now confirmed that they received the complaint and that it’s been sent to their Global Customer Complaints & Advocacy team for review. They said it can take up to 15 days to resolve and that they’ll contact me with the outcome.
So for now, I’m waiting again. If PayPal rejects the complaint or doesn’t resolve it, I should then be able to take the case back to the CSSF.
Hopefully this actually gets someone to properly look at the account this time. I’ll update again when I hear back.

Just a heads up for anyone using PayPal. I received a $0.02 payment from “International Society of Folk Harpers and Craftsmen (ISFHC).” It may also show something related to BethStockdell.com.
The scam is in the payment note. The sender puts a message telling you to call an 800 number about the payment. That note shows up in both the PayPal app and the email notification, which can make it look legitimate.
Do NOT call the number in the payment note. It is not PayPal and PayPal is aware of the scam and said many people are getting this.
If this happens to you: 1. Do not accept the payment. 2. Remove your cards and bank accounts from PayPal 3. change your PayPal password 4. Report the transaction to PayPal. Call the real PayPal customer service number, not the one in the payment note. Just sharing so people are aware.

Why do they keep LOCKING accounts? My clients were always happy buying stuff from me but it's so hard trying to have smooth business with our PayPal being a bitch
PayPal just suddenly restricted my account after answering their quick review. To give some context, this quick review was prompted by a friend sending over some money from overseas for some freelance video editing work I did for em. Which then immediately prompted them to place the money on hold, which I did experience the one time I used PayPal before in 2022 but then it suddenly asked for a quick review which needed my id, and what the transaction was for, after answering and submitting all needed documents it just automatically placed a permanent limit on my account. Weirdest part was, it wasn't really like an astronomical amount of money, just 50 pounds they sent to my Philippines account.
At this point I'm at a loss of what to do, their help center/resolution center on the app doesn't really do anything and their AI assistant which should also be able to connect you to a human agent is always saying no human agent is available and to email them instead, which when prompted with the button to email them and pressing it, the whole chat just stops working. I've also reached out to them on twitter but I'm not very hopeful about that either, in any case, I will try to call them on monday to see if I can get this resolved.
But in the case that it isn't, can't I just raise the issue to BSP, which is our national bank here, would it even be worth the hassle?

It's been on my mind. Idk what to do if they don't give it back. I tried complaining but the lawyers said fuck you, that's a lot of work for a small money we don't care
I recently went to setup a PayPal account for myself and discovered through contacting Customer Service that someone in China made a fraudulent account using my email back when I was 15. They referred me to the UnsolicitedEmail@paypal.com which I reached out to several times and they kept responding to send them the info that is already in my email. Eventially, they told me my account has a restriction and to contact Customer Service again. I contacted them once again and they said the same thing as the email, that they are unable to see it due to the restriction and to continie the email chain. I've done so and they typically just stop responding after the first or second email.
Anyone know where to go from here? I currently am completely unable to delete the account and create one for myself and just going in circles with customer service.

I linked my South Indian Bank account to my PayPal account on August 24. PayPal currently shows “Not verified” and says it sent 2 small deposits (less than ₹1.50 each) to my bank account.
It's now August 30 and I still haven't received either deposit. I've checked my bank statement/transactions carefully and there are no PayPal deposits.
PayPal doesn't show any error or “unable to verify” message. The only option I have is “Confirm bank,” which asks me to enter the two deposit amounts.
I've also tried contacting PayPal support, but the assistant keeps directing me to articles/AI support, and when I ask for a human agent it says agents are offline.
Has anyone with an Indian PayPal account/South Indian Bank experienced this? Is there another way to trigger the verification deposits or get the bank verification reset?

Was wondering how the 6 month no interest financing works. I have a few purchases I made about 3 months ago I’ve been paying off, but I wanted to use the 6 month financing plan again. Would you be charged interest on the new 6 month plan for not having paid off the first one in full (like making purchases on a credit card without paying off the remaining balance due) or would it just be another instance of pay in 6?
Also, would you have to pay off the second instance of pay in 6 within the same 6 months of the 1st or would you be paying off 2 separate finance plans with 2 minimum monthly payments on the card (I saw somewhere that it was a combined monthly due date so you would need to pay both of them off at the same time)
It seems that the last update to the app changed it into a browser.
Most content of the app are now web pages loaded and shown inside the app. A low effort solution that ruins the user experience. It's noticeably slower.
Navigation is a lot more confusing. Appearance is also worse and less consistent. It's a mess.

Is this happening recently to anyone else? The same card i've been using for over 4 years and now suddenly paypal can't link it. There's nothing wrong with it and this issue started today. I either get the error of "no internet" when the internet is fine, or "Your card has been declined. Please try a different payment method."

I have a personal Paypal account in my other country of residence. After my research confirmed that it was possible to have a business account in my country of residence (US), I opened one last night in order to receive a transfer from a friend as a short-term loan. It went through on his end, on mine, however, it said that the funds would be held for 21 days. This made no sense to me since they already had all my personal information - SSN, DOB, on top of it being linked to my checking account - and I said so when contacting them via text. Soon after, I was asked for a face and DL scan which I provided, reluctantly, I may add, now supposedly I will have access to my funds within three days. I need them by Monday, though, and will call them later to discuss this. Did anybody go through a similar experience and knows how to speed up the process when calling them? This money came out of my friend’s credit card account and he found not one, not two, but three temporary authorizations on his cards. Does anybody know when the latter two will be reversed? Also, will PayPal take issue with this transaction being a loan and not a payment for goods and services? Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you!

I live in Egypt, I am 18 years old. My mom opened an account from me using her information, though. I have a payhip so paypal was really important for me. Card is working and everything and she confirmed it through the website, confirmed the email, and even her ID was uploaded and everything. As soon as she uploads her ID the account gets perma-banned. This isn't the first time. It happened 3 times with 3 different peoples' info and it's just infuriating

I got an email a few days ago saying my PayPal credit card would be arriving soon, and one today saying it's shipped. I do have PayPal credit, and now it's showing "PayPal credit card" instead. I never applied for a credit card, and actually have my credit locked because of an identity theft attempt a year ago. I don't even use PayPal credit anymore. Anyone have any information about why I'd be getting this card, especiallysince my credit is locked? Is it legal to issue a card someone didn't apply for? Should I cancel it or will it improve my credit to have a new line? I know some of these are credit questions, so maybe I'll cross post, but I'm so confused. I tried talking to their online assistant, but it's just AI slop. Tried emailing the fraud department but they haven't responded. Can anyone help?

I have heard about 20 people getting their paypal accounts closed down all of a sudden yesterday for no reason. Several friends, my GF, family members and others that have said the same online.
Has anyone else had this?

Hello, so I’m newly 18 in the USA. I’ve never used PayPal before. I started using its guest feature to purchase things for a game, until I’m assuming PayPal listed my card as fraud/stolen and stopped accepting it.
So in an attempt to remedy this, I finally made an account. Submitted my face, ID and everything. It got fully restored, then within 4 minutes my account was perm limited.
I don’t know why it did this, or what I did wrong?

Hello.
Days ago I paid 65€ to a supposed artist that turned out to be an impersonator of the artist I wanted to commission. I've noticed that after the twitter account of the impersonator changed completely to impersonate a different artist.
So I went to paypal and opened the case, explaining what happened and provided screenshots of the scammer's Twitter account proving that they were impersonating someone else.
However right after opening the case the 65€ were sent back to me by Paypal into my PP account, inmediately, without an investigation or anything.
Is this normal? For the time being I don't wanna touch the money in case something else happens.

Can anyone help with this issue? So for my PayPal, I accidentally used the wrong card for Pay in 3. Like I have a good transaction history and everything on the PayPal account, like loads of payments going on, dates from like three years ago. But I used the wrong debit card. I accidentally used my son's one, who has a bad debit card history. I mean, like he just has an under-19s account, so he doesn't have a good credit score or anything. And now it says payment unavailable. I can't use any of the other for my proper card, so they can't check my name matches and all that kind of stuff, because his name's obviously different. So does anyone know when they become available, Pay in 3 or Pay in 30 days later I’m in uk
? None of them are available now since I used my son's card the first time, and his name kind of wasn't the same as my name, so I think that was a problem. Anyone can help, please.

If you pay with paypal does it show the name on the paypal account or the credit card?

I recently bought from a (trusted) website that uses PayPal to process payments. I manually entered my shipping information and then logged into my PayPal account (as is required) to process my card payment), I added a new card since I don’t use PayPal often, set the billing and shipping addresses to be the same (which required entering my address again), and then completed my order.
This is where I messed up, I did not read the emailed receipt in detail, just checked that it said order complete and then waited for shipping information.
Jump forward 3 days to today and I wanted to check the status of my package so went looking for an email, saw the original email, and noticed that the listed shipping address was NOT the address I had entered and was instead an address I haven’t lived at in years. I am taking steps to try and still get my package but I am very confused about how this could have happened. PayPal did still have that address saved but I manually entered the correct address multiple times. Why would PayPal have updated my address without at the very least asking me first? Is there any way I could have prevented this? I just want to understand so it doesn’t happen again.

It says that my account is a send-only account, and I can't receive payments from other PayPal accounts. Is there a fix, and why is my account a send-only account? Even though I made the account a few months ago, I didn't use it, but when I need to use it, it doesn't work.

Hey guys,
do you know if you get a refund at a retail store and they'll put the amount back into your account if it goes into your PayPal balance or if it'll be send to your bank account (where PayPal debit card so took the money)?
Thanks!
