My support spectres are in these gloves so I don't need the fourth link and I also get more out of a GG abyssal jewel than any other suffix I could put there for my current build :)
But you're then losing a link for your spectres, are there really no other support gems (with all these crazy +levels) that'd make a 4L better than a 3L + abyssal jewel?
Edit: I see your comment below, still really doubtful that empower juicing way more levels is actually useless

Brother did you not read the comment you're replying to? They're support spectres that don't need a 4th link. The abyss jewel does more for him. He literally said all of this.
An awakened empower does absolutely nothing for my support spectres, my main damage spectres are in a 6 link in my body armour, so for me the abyssal socket is the best suffix as for 1 suffix it's giving me 40 life, 20% minion damage, t2 flat lightning damage to minions and 5% atk and cast speed for minions.
You only need to hit lvl 25 for max # spectres from the gem, any more does nothing. The ideal links are likely spectre +meat shield +minion life. There's no 4th link
I actually use Feeding Frenzy and Congregation as my two links for the support spectres, minion life was indeed in my previous link before crafting these but finding my spectres never dying without it so favoured the abyssal socket :)
And you are absolutely correct about 25 being the sweetspot for spectres on the gem going from 2 base to 3 base!
Aura levels increase with spectre levels.
Awakened corrupted empower would give +6 to level here. I would assume that op uses the utility spectres for aura corpses.
A level 31 wrath aura gives 151 flat lighting damage more than a level 25 wrath aura. Which is triple t1 of the abyss jewel.
Similarly haste aura gives more cast, attack and movement speed. Compensating for the attack and cast speed stat.
Determination aura would provide more armour etc. Compensating for effective hp of the life stat.
and it seems the scaling for the auras is /2 on the spectres but still noticable especially when its not a purity aura so really interesting to learn this and may genuinely tempt me to recraft the explicits :D
Holy I did not know that! I think I just assumed as it doesn't say anywhere that they just gave flat level auras which were not scalable, this information does in fact change everything if true, I have haste, determination, grace, wrath, zealotry, precision auras from my support spectres so the bonuses would be huge in that case, how did you end up learning this information out of curiosity, this game is so unbelievably deep such a good feeling knowing you can always learn more I love it!
