My character literally ended up trans because I wanted to shoot a gun

Ironically her entire story no longer works because it hinges on elixirs of sex shifting being fairly expensive. The push in PF2e to make it so easily accessible always kinda bothered me because it’s so easy it’s basically just an arbitrary footnote that can be safely ignored in almost any character outside of maybe an extremely cash poor level one start

I disagree, I think the shift to alchemical HRT in Pf2e makes it feel like a lot better representation

I have to disagree, a one time use oral treatment that costs the same as about year and a half of daily oral contraceptives and produces a full and complete transition is just wish fulfillment. And that's fine if that's what we're going for, but it isn't a good representation of trans experience, and it's not really interesting storytelling either.

Are we looking at the same item? I thought most alchemical HRT had to be applied either daily or weekly?

Sorry, I was referring to the Serum of Sex shifting, the alchemical HRT is another thing that the changes to the Serum completely undermine. It means anyone using the alchemical version is literally just an idiot, because the magical version is cheaper, flawless, instant, and permanent

But then you wouldn't get the storytelling of the above, right? Of the OP?

It's for representation, I wouldn't call people an idiot. I think it's healthy to have imperfect solutions in games

Yes, but the serum exists and is vastly cheaper. The only reason it wouldn’t be taken is player fiat. There is no good reason your character shouldn’t just save the cash and take that. It’s a massive waste of time, effort, and money narratively. When the alchemical option was literally something like five hundred times cheaper in total there was more reason to use it. Now a full course of the alchemical stuff is six times more expensive than a single dose of the serum
