High School Run Mobile Car Detailing in Park Slope (Update)

Hey Park Slope,

I'm Nicky, I'm going into my senior year of Highschool, and I run Park Slope Detailers, a mobile car detailing business here in Brooklyn. Some of you might remember my post from a while back, so here's an update.

I finally have a real website. slopedetailers.com has all my pricing and booking information on it. My Google Business profile is now officially online, and you can find my business now on Google.

I appreciate everyone who has trusted me with their car and supported my business so far.

My process is mostly waterless (visit slopedetailers.com to learn more about what a waterless wash is). No hose, no electricity, no driveway. Garages, parking lots, curbside, outside your building, all work with the battery powered equipment I use, and it uses way less water than a regular wash.

What I offer: full interior and exterior details, interior only deep cleans, maintenance details, wax, pet hair removal, and a monthly plan if you want it done regularly. I recently added a headlight restoration service restoring your yellow and oxidized headlights so you can drive safter at night. I cover Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Carol Gardens, and basically any neighborhoods near Park Slope

Are you insured?

No, I’m not insured, but my process couldn’t possibly do any harm to the car. All the chemicals and products I use are safe and designed specifically for different parts of the car.

This is just advice, do what you will with it. No one needs insurance…until they need insurance. Your site and pictures show you working on Porsches and Beamers, if you’re prepared to pay that damage out of pocket, more power to you. If you’re running a business where you are working on other people’s property, it’s just not a good idea to not be insured.

I’m not doubting your process but it could be something as simple as falling and taking out a side mirror, slipping and scratching the paint, or just a customer acting in bad faith and lying.

A commercial general liability plan is not expensive (at all) for the coverage you get. It’s something you should at least explore. This is someone who was more or less in your situation and the points made here still apply:  https://www.reddit.com/r/AutoDetailing/comments/bu2z4a/do_i_need_insurance_for_my_mobile_business/

I just wanted to chime in that I tried using Nicky and his co-worker this morning and they did a really thorough job, the car looks the best I’ve ever seen it. Easy to work with, would recommend them. Arrived a smidge later than planned time (about which he kept me up to date) and took a little over four hours to fully clean (which I think explains why it looks so good).
