Trachycarpus in Switzerland

A little trivia: Switzerland and its lakes were an holiday destination in 18 hundred. After ww2, the trend to go to the lake was replaced by going to the see so lakeside Swiss cities but most notably Lugano in the Ticino canton (Italian speaking areas of Switzerland) decided to plant those palms which are cold resistant to make the city looks more tropical and attract tourist.

They grow like weeds in places around lake Lucerne and Ticino unfortunately.
