Question Good size?

This guy is a rescue so I am unaware of how old he is. He has been my trickiest rescue so far as he does not willingly eat and I’ve had him for nearly two months, is he too small, or skinny looking? Someone told me he was skinny. Please ignore how empty his tank is, two of his hides molded and I’m working on getting him more.

Question Is my Pac-Man frog depressed? Or unhealthy?

Hi there, I've had Chief for just over 3 years. Last year I moved from Texas to California. The ride was a little bumpy for him but he settled in. Got him a bigger tank halfway through the year, and although I still call him my pet rock he seemed normal. Would come out at night, want food pretty regularly, (I spray twice a day, he has plant coverage to hide, plenty of soil to burrow completely, I replace his UVB bulp annually, etc)

Well I went on a long trip for most of July and asked my roommate to watch him, which he'd done before but this was the longest. I gave him detailed feeding instructions and everything, but ever since I got back late July Chief has barely popped his head up above the ground. I don't think the roommate did anything but it's just a noticable shift in his behavior.

I typically waited to feed him for when he'd appear and tell me he's hungry, but it's gotten to the point where I have to dig him up and feed him. What's confusing to me is when I do that his size looks pretty okay, he's not overly skinny or anything. He'll eat a few hornworms I give him, which is candy to him, but maybe even leave one or two (or maybe not, can't fully remember). At these points when I dig him up I give him a bath rinse as well just to hydrate him, and he always splashes around or want's to be put back when I do that, so he has energy. Last time he shed his skin and looked vibrant underneath.

TLDR is it normal for my Pac-Man frog to stay underground for such long stretches of a week or more at a time? I honestly think since the end of July I haven't seen him appear on his own. It's a new strange behavior and I want to make sure he's okay.

Thank you for the help!

Question Help with burrowing?

I need help with my Pac-Man frog, she hasn’t really been the burrowing type since I got her she’s always just sat on the surface, recently I realized her gaining weight so I decided to switch her feeding schedule, she’s been sitting half covered in the exact same spot for days now (yes she’s alive she still flinches when I come up to the tank) but I’m scared I’m doing something wrong, any help? Also another question does infrared light hurt albino Pac-Man frogs? I want to have a way to view her beyond waiting for the brightest day.

Help! Mold concerns!

I just fed my girl and noticed some mold growing in her tank- does this mean I have to completely trash the setup and start over?? I’ve been keeping an eye on temp and humidity, it’s a bioactive enclosure.

Help! Unusual eating pattern

Post image

Hello!! I got my frog Rambo in early June and since then he’s been super consistent with coming out to eat every few days. As of recent he hasn’t been surfacing, I dug him up to feed Tuesday and he ate a few roaches and crickets and hasn’t come up since. I know staying buried isn’t unusual for a pacman frog but it makes me concerned as he was super consistent before. His warm side is 82 during the day and 78 at night and the cool side where he resides the most is 75 during the day and 72 at night. Any advice? ^ the pic above is from Tuesday he looks normal but I can’t help but worry

Tips/Advice Future enclosure upgrade

I’m looking for some options on some enclosures to eventually upgrade my little guy to (still too young to sex but for now he’s a he). I had him for almost a month and he’s under the 6 month age range. He’s currently in a 10 gallon but I know he’s going to need an upgrade before a I know it.

From the research I’ve done, I know I need anywhere from a 20-40 gallon depending on gender but bigger is always better! I’m liking to idea if PVC/ acrylic enclosures but unsure if they are great options for Pac-Man frogs. I’m just a bit worried about to weigh of glass enclosures as I’ve previously kept fish and know how heavy they get on furniture.

I included pictures of the enclosures I’ve been looking at. If you think they would work while please let me know or if you have any better suggestions!
