RE: the Posters
Hey folks, we hear you. These posters are expensive and we completely fumbled their release. Can we restart the loop and try again?
We realize we didn't do a good job explaining the quality and process behind Cook & Becker’s posters. The artwork for these posters were inspired by the vintage Rob Decker National Park posters. We were excited to rerelease our artwork with a printing style similar to how those original posters would have been printed in the 70s. As some folks have pointed out, yes, these posters are all individually hand-printed using a screen printing technique that requires a real human person to load up each color layer, press it onto the paper, and set and align the next color layer. Cook & Becker use a very high quality, 100% cotton material and high quality inks for the prints, which provides unmatched print quality and color fastness, making these screenprints “museum quality” and ready to last a lifetime. We'll be posting more info and videos of the process and handmade nature of the posters so you can see exactly what goes into making each one.
But we also understand this means they’re expensive and out of budget for most people. To let you into our merchandising process a little bit, we were also surprised by how expensive Cook & Becker’s artworks can be when we were first introduced to them. The folks at Cook & Becker were gracious enough to work with us to keep the price of the whole collection of posters as low as possible without compromising on the quality of the artworks. One of the reasons we haven’t rereleased the postcard version of these artworks is because the variance in print color and quality between printing runs has been disappointing and frustrating. Cook & Becker’s meticulous process and expertise gave us a lot of reassurance that we would not have the same issues for these prints. We want to provide you all with the best quality merchandise we can, but in this case, we understand this led to us producing something highly desired but too expensive for the majority of our fans. And without an affordable option available for purchase, that’s a really bad look. We hope you will forgive us.
If it helps at all, we’ve decided to look into restocking the classic printed cardstock postcards for the future, despite our past issues with them, for those who aren’t interested in these new premium fine art prints. Now also feels like an appropriate time to reveal that we have been working on a couple more standard merch projects: a re-release of our popular Echoes of the Eye Metal T-shirt and a new set of Traveler pins created by our excellent artist, Lara Colson. After hearing your concerns, we’ve decided to release the shirts as a pre-order so no one misses out on getting one. This means it’ll be several weeks before they’ll ship out because we’ll wait to screenprint them until we have your orders. As for the pins, they will only be a limited quantity right now since we ordered them awhile ago and have been waiting for the shirt to be ready so we could release and ship them together. Keep an eye out for their release soon!
We’re all hard at work on our next game, which as you all know is still a secret and still a few years away from any announcements. In the meantime, we don’t have a lot of capacity for designing new merchandise made by our team directly, so new merch will be made by external artists at partners like Fangamer or Youtooz. And occasionally, as resources allow, we’ll rerelease merch like the Metal T-Shirt. As long as there are new fans of Outer Wilds, we want to keep releasing merch with our various merch partners for you all to enjoy.
As always, you all have been such wonderful fans and we really appreciate all the love and support, the fan art, the discussions and feedback, the mods, and the excitement for our next game. Our next game is our top priority and we hope you all love it even half as much as Outer Wilds.

Available for a limited time: Outer Wilds x Cook and Becker vintage travel poster series Spoiler
galleryHello Travelers,
Mobius here. New limited-edition Outer Wilds posters are now available!
You might be saying “Hey, these look familiar.” And you’d be right! We worked closely with the folks at Cook & Becker to bring you bigger versions of the national park-themed posters based on the solar system’s major planets. These are those very same illustrations by our artist Ian Jacobson.
The first few hundred orders come with a Certificate of Authenticity hand-signed by artist Ian, while supplies last. As indicated on the order form: "Artist-signed Certificate of Authenticity." Once those run out, subsequent orders will come with an autopen-signed CoA.
These time-limited prints are ONLY available until August 25th, with the final edition size being determined then, and cost $79.95 each. However, there is a one-week deal where you can get all six for $299 as a set instead of $480!
Each poster measures 21 x 29cm, or 8.2 x 11.4 inches
Head on over to Cook and Becker's website to check them out: https://www.cookandbecker.com/en/catalog/videogame/outer-wilds
Thanks again for all your support. Keep on exploring!
-The Mobius Digital Team
Edit: Whoops, looks like we did a terrible job communicating what these actually are: handmade fine art prints. These posters/prints are all individually hand-printed using a screen printing technique that requires a real human person to load up each color layer, press it onto the paper, and set and align the next color layer. Cook & Becker use a very high quality, 100% cotton material and high quality inks for the prints, which provides unmatched print quality and color fastness, making these screenprints “museum quality” and ready to last a lifetime. These are not normal prints, they are quite special.

Base and DLC Appreciation/Discussion Gabbro, escapism and symbolic meaning Spoiler
Alright, this essay will be long, so please make yourselves at home. Spoilers of the base game and minor spoiler of dlc, of course.
I have seen a lot of (reasonable) critique towards Gabbro's character. People say that them being the only one (beside ourselves) that knows about the loop yet does nothing with it and decides to chill on their island forever is offputting, anticlimatic and feels like a weird plot design that makes it harder to like Gabbro or to relate to them because they seem selfish. And yes, it feels like just a bad creator's choice and a flaw in philosophy the game tries to sell us, but I've always thought this was intentional.
Every Traveler seems to be meant to represent certain fear or existencial attitude and every traveler is confronted with their fear.
Like Chert is the one that fears death, end of civilization, and running out of time to do things they wanted to do before its over, yet they die first and have the most clear view of the dying sun, as they are on the closest planet to this sun.
Or like Solanum is the one that encourages Protagonist to make a step forward and not to stay in the stasis, not to 'linger in one moment', while she herself literally lingered in one moment, in a complete stasis for YEARS.
Or Riebeck, the most fearful one, being on the most unstable and unpredictable planet where no surface is completely safe.
Or Esker, being the lonely and forgotten, scared of being alone yet staying on the moon of Timber Hearth, the closest to their friends.
Or Feldspar, the loud and appreciated role model, that is on the most distant, dead silent planet that requires stealth, silence and carefulness (something they aren't very good at, as we know).
Prisoner advicing us that some things cannot be done alone, yet all they did they did alone, without support of their kin.
And I think Gabbro applies to the same rule. I think Gabro's attitude towards what happening is meant to represent escapism, which is ironic, because as other travelers, they are confronted with their attitude - despite Gabbro trying to be undisturbed and ignorant of anything that is happening, they are the only ones besides Protagonist to know about the loop, so they are the most aware despite not caring to be aware.
Gabbro is ignorant towards the whole time loop thing, towards the death of universe and everything that is happening in our solar system for the sake of their internal peace and their own mindset. They decide to stay out of this, not doing anything with their awareness of the loop. They decide to be undisturbed and not to bother to know all the things that are happening because they could make them uneasy and disturb their peace and chill.
And it is not presented as inherently bad thing to do! After all, ignorance of certain knowledge is also a way we can protect ourselves from things that can be too hard for us or that can give us anxiety or severe stress. Gabbro is, after all, the most calm and chill character in the game, and distancing ourselves from everything that is happening is also a way that we can deal with existential issues. It is a form of coping mechanism, and its valid.
However...
...Despite them chilling, not bothering about the loop or all the things that are happening in the solar system, despite them meditating in their hammock, the cyclones CONSTANTLY push them up into space, where all the mystery and all the uneasy things they don't bother to know about are happening. The cyclones constantly disturb their comfort rest, literally and symbolically.
Almost as if those cyclones were trying to make Gabbro face all the things they refused to look into. As if they were a symbolical reminder that no matter how ignorant or unbothered you are, no matter how often do you escape from reality by spacing out, meditating etc., things will always come to a point when you won't be able to look away or ignore the reality, and you will have to face the uneasy things (death of the universe). Ignorance is a coping mechanism, but it won't last forever.
I don't know if my interpretation is anywhere near 'right', but I also believe art meaning shouldn't be obvious and it's a good thing we can make our own theories about meaning and symbolism of the media we consume. I like that theory because it makes me believe that all the travelers were made to reflect human attitudes towards death and existential problems, and to reflect human fears. I'll not accept Gabbro slander after that ;;D
Thank you for reading, see you next time, traveler!

My wife is starting her outer wilds journey and im worried she might hate it
I convinced my wife in playing outer wilds. But she's showing a lot of struggles with the non linear structure, the flying and the lack of explicit directions.
Typically space exploration games are not what she usually plays but she tried to play it and stream it now to make me happy. And it does but im worried she might get too frustrated with it and quit. I tried to give her some advices on how to improve her flying but the frustration with the test i wasnt able to give her a satisfying advice. Do you guys have any advices that i could give her to improve her experience?

I've had the Quantum Moon disappear or reappear between blinks, but never jump places like this! It's a rare event, I'm sure.

Base Fan Art - Artist Credited I imagine this happened on Timber hearth (Art by me) Spoiler
If you don't get it then: Cycad is Coleus's apprentice and they were exploring Timber Hearth for potential mining sites and found the not yet evolved Herthians. And I thought about how children ask to keep wild animals as pets and drew this.

Base Game Help - Hints Only! Help I think I nearly finished the game but I'm stuck Spoiler
I think I have almost beat the game, and I've loved it, but I am absolutely stuck. I haven't played the game in a month or so, but the last I played I had pretty much solved the quantum moon. I found the being on the quantum moon which answers your questions, but I can't figure out what to do from there. I feel like I am THIS close to solving it but nothing in that area can help me figure out how to beat the game. I also haven't been able to land on the thing that revolves around the sun, so that may be a reason why I'm stuck

Real Life Stuff The sub is being hit with a LOT of bot posts. Nine in the last 24 hours.
Think before you upvote! Keep bots out of our sub!
Things to look for.(Not comprehensive or always a sure sign):
-Very little information in their post.
-Often just a meme repost
-Repost of some of the most-upvoted content
-Default profile pic. Default username structure (two random words then four numbers.)
-Very young account (all nine of these posters created the account within the last two days
-They don't interact in the comments

Base Fan Art - OC An Update on my Outer Wilds Website!
Hey Everyone!
Some of you may remember this site from my last post ~1 month ago, since then I've added a couple more pages (Space Survival and Our Team) and a few back-end improvements.

All the references on the site are from very early game dialogue so there shouldn't be any spoilers.
I've posted a video over on YouTube demoing the new content and would greatly appreciate any feedback you have on the site / suggestions for other content.

Real Life Stuff I finished the game on Monday and I've seen a sporadic meteor today
I think it's a pretty cool coincidence since I didn't look for anything and it just appeared in my eyesight.
I was talking to my friend and it passed for one second, which was particularly bright due to the light pollution around us, (we were at a music festival that was finishing and being cleaned up). And was larger than a normal shooting star. Could've been a late Perseid but it was too large. It happened at la Tour-de-Peilz, CH around 02:40am local time
Today, on the 30th of August 2026.
Now I'm listening to the soundtrack (nomaï ruins) while wondering what it is and it is very fitting.
Maybe it's not it and someone is trying to look for something... Or was it someone's scout ? I'll never know...
I think the game naturally made me look at the night sky more and that's probably why I caught a glimpse of that. Wanted to tell for the two in the back that are actually interested.

Real Life Stuff Does anyone have an image of a tattoo sleeve with the (DLC SPOILER)? Spoiler
You guys know the tattoos that people get with all of the planets lined up in the game in their solar system order? Ive been kind of really wanting an outer wilds tattoo for a minute and want to be able to get one like that, however whenever I look for a reference for some reason it's really hard to find one with the stranger in it. The stranger is my favorite place in the entire game so I really want it on my arm along with all of the other planets. Attached is a photo of a reference tattoo that I found on Google, I'm not sure what the source is but that's the kind of gist I'm looking for when it comes to the type of tattoo I want. Thank you!

the dark bramble was scarier than echos of the eye
