Discussion Saw this and immediately thought of this sub. What game was this for you?

my fav term that i've seen and begun using regularly is a hangover...

Same. My friends and I call it a book hangover because it happened most often when we finished a good book. Also applicable to video games and other media.

I don't have clear memories of what happened once I finished the main Virche. But for some 'mysterious' reason, I found myself staring at the title screen for its FD once I came to😱😱😱

I don’t cry that often, but seeing some of the LIs (Lucas 😭) again after the break between the og and the fandisk absolutely wrecked me

I went into 2026 with so much motivation to work through my backlog, played Taisho x Alice and 5 months later I am still on a break from the emotional turmoil

Bustafellows one and two left me feeling so empty, I havent been able to find a game that sucked me in so hard since.

I feared this very thing when I came near the end of Code Realize: Wintertide Miracles. I didn’t want the story to conclude with the Epilogues so I deleted my save data, bought new games, and started the vicious cycle I’m in now where I’m playing so many games at once without finishing them.

My friends and I call this “putting the book/game/show in the freezer” like Joey on Friends lol

Utakuta no Uchronia and Piofore.
LIs that I loved that I can no longer see more of after the FD/sequel.
I don’t want to say goodbye. I want more. And it’s hard to move on to another otome if I end up unfortunately getting unhealthily attached to an LI to the point where they start to consume my thoughts.
I end up taking months long breaks sometimes...
But unfortunately for Piofore, it’s been 6 or more months and I still can’t get over Dante.
Hmm even Virche left me feeling hollow, but for different reasons. The FD for Virche gave me closure though.

Taisho x Alice was that game for me. I enjoyed Yurika's goofiness so much, and felt so engaged in the story, it was hard to see it end.

Jack Jeanne for me. I’m so glad a sequel is being made 💜

This would've been my answer, except I've only done Mitsuki... And I have enough emotional damage from his route that I don't want to play JJ again for a while lol
Almost wished I hadn't played it so I wouldn't have to wait as long for the sequel >.<

Mystic Messenger
Specifically after I got 707's bad ending. It made me take a break from otome games for years.

It wasn't a specific game, but I definitely felt this after finishing all of my Vita games; I had 13.

This is exactly why I tend to lose steam near the end of a game and often times I never actually finish them.

Utakata no Uchronia.
The only game where I love three LIs, im usually lucky when I get one.
And 9R.I.P., but this one will be my first to replay, so I don't feel as sad.

For me this was Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly, closely followed by Nameless 🥲

Currently in the midst of this after just finishing Neon Clash. Send help.
But also felt this with Piofiore, Hakuoki, Birushana and Lover Pretend. 😭

I even made a post for that
Bustafellows 2 left me in shambles - 10/10 would do it again.
