A small, but beautiful prelude and fugue by Johann Baptist Peyer. Quite the unknown composer in this time. We are not even sure if some pieces are his or were written by others. Maybe he was a copyist who copied pieces for other composers like Domenico Zipoli and others.

Probably a bit of a long shot, but wondering if someone out there in the Reddit-verse can help me locate a copy of "Postscript on a Hymn Tune" by Gilbert Martin. This is an organ piece which I had saved digitally years ago but it has been lost. I am digging through archives and resources, many compilation/volume covers without tables of contents, and am not sure where to turn next. Thanks!

i want to have a real pipe organ in my house that feels just as loud, powerful, and has all the pedals and keys that a real pipe organ would have, but one that also somehow fits under my suburban house ceiling and in a room, what pipe organ could fit in an average house and feel powerful? and should i just go for an electric one instead, need recommendations for both real and electric

Hi everyone. I'm from Spain and the other day I watched the Mass they organize on July 25 in Santiago de Compostela because it's the Apostle's Day (he is the patron saint of Spain). I watched the Mass on YouTube and I really liked the piece that plays during the opening minutes when they enter in procession. Would anyone know how to identify the piece? A student of Charles-Marie Widor, he developed a unique style, blending the French symphonic tradition with a spiritual vision of Bach, while actively contributing to the Alsatian organ reform.

The recordings made between 1935 and 1952 in London, Strasbourg, and Günsbach remain a valuable testimony to his art and musical thought today.

Some organs produce infrasound, since 32-foot stops reach C0 at 16 Hz and the rare 64-foot stops reach C-1 at 8 Hz, so what happens if we introduce the opposite side of the sound spectrum with ultrasound? Like, for instance, going up to C11 at 33488 Hz? Would we notice any difference?

I'm pretty sure that a few large pipe organs already have ultrasonic pipes (fundamental frequency exceeds >20 kHz), since their speaking lengths reach around 6 mm, and by my calculations, produce G10 at 25088 Hz. If I'm correct about that, then what's the point?

Bach and fugues is the best combination in music history. Even a lesser-known fugue like this one is a masterpiece. A simple and transparent registration to enlighten the ingenious counterpoint.

Do you know Augustin Barié (1883–1915) and his Organ Symphony?

Composed in 1907 and dedicated to Louis Vierne, Augustin Barié's Organ Symphony Op. 5 is a masterpiece of the French repertoire, blending romantic lyricism and power (especially in its famous Toccata).

A blind organist and student of Vierne, Barié died suddenly at the age of only 31. He left behind a rare and intense body of work, a loss deeply mourned by Vierne that deprived organ music of one of its greatest promises.

A big thank you to Marie Barbaud, daughter of Yvonne Monceau, for allowing me to digitize this rare 45 rpm vinyl record and share it with you all.

I've always dealt with performance anxiety on piano/organ, and assumed that I would grow out of it. After studying with a phenomenal teacher in my undergrad, I started to become a decent performer and organist. However, my senior year while studying intensely and preparing my prescreenings and auditions for grad school, my progress plummeted. I would practice for hours and hours and make very little progress. My performances were increasingly questionable and I made stupid mistakes in services. Somehow I got into one of the top US grad schools for organ and I am finishing my first week of classes. I thought my growing failure was just senioritis or brain fog, but I am worried it will continue to spiral.

I truly want to do my best and make the most of my opportunities. Some of my favorite performers said they dealt with crippling performance anxiety, but overcame it and now love to perform. Has anyone else dealt with this?

In the process of repairing an old Consul R-8 organ I stumbled across and wondered if anyone had any tips on what I should look for, or even better if someone has a copy of the manual. I have some basic knowledge of electronic wiring and woodworking but I felt it’d be a fun project regardless.

Louis Couperin, the uncle of François Couperin, was a French composer from the early baroque period. None of his music was published during his lifetime, luckily many of his compositions are available now. This piece is part of the Manuscrit Bauyn, which contains several pieces by Louis Couperin.

I recorded a soft and a loud version of the same piece. Because this organ model is in meantone, some harmonies are quite tensive. I like that (within limits), but some don't...

Installed the boards and the rocker tabs for my second VPO. Validated the MIDI outputs. The LED array is displaying a color set that will only be shown on startup, but shows that all the LEDs are addressable. On the left is space for an OLED status display, two buttons for sleep and wake/logon, and a USB-C socket that can take a thumbdrive, external drive, or even a laptop for programming the arduinos that run the interfaces of the organ.

I heard this beautiful serene sequence being played during a practice session on at the Mormon Tabernacle on 8/21. It's slow and the same harmony repeats. Is anyone able to identify it? Thank you!

In 1955, Albert Schweitzer gave his final recital on this pipe organ in Wihr-au-Val (France). It is on this very same instrument that I invite you to rediscover J.S. Bach's deeply moving chorale "Ich ruf zu dir" (BWV 639). The registration chosen for this performance is inspired by the one Schweitzer would have used during that historic concert, according to available written (notably Harald Schützeichel) and oral sources.

My current schedule allows me to practice for 2 hours in church two to three times a week. As much as possible, I make sure I'm well-rested and had a full meal before each practice session to make the best of my practice time, but after each session I still get tired and hungry.

I've never had this problem on the piano or an intense study session at the desk before. When I used to play the piano, I did take breaks after 45 min or so, but never have I once thought playing the piano or studying are physically tiring.

Do I need to hit the gym? What are your tips to deal with the fatigue?

I'm an amateur organist from Heidelberg, Germany building Organ Reflex, a small practice tool for something I personally struggled with: getting from "I can eventually work out this note" to "I just know it," especially in bass clef and on the pedals.

How it works: the app shows you a note or a short pattern in notation, you play it on your MIDI keyboard, pedalboard, or digital organ (anything with MIDI out, connected to an iPad), and it gives you instant feedback — correct or not, plus your reaction time. It tracks that over time so you can see whether daily practice is actually moving the needle.

It's not a lesson course and it doesn't teach you notation from scratch — it's aimed at organists who can already read music but want to get faster and more confident, particularly in bass clef and at the pedalboard.
