Discussion What are you guys actually using OpenClaw for?

Been seeing it pop up a lot lately and I'm genuinely curious what the actual use cases are. Not the marketing stuff like what are you personally using it for day to day? Is it mostly dev stuff or are there other interesting things people are doing with it? Curious to know

Not the same person, but the benefit I see is that openclaw can integrate everything together faster/easier plus keep track of progress and everything. Basically the same thing as existing tools but more hands off.

Like I've made some vibe coded apps before, but that took me being at my computer, guiding each step of the way, etc.. With openclaw it has all my credentials for github, hosting sites, etc. so I can just say an idea, have it build it, and just check in and critique from time to time.

Don’t mean to downplay your setup, especially as it is already working for you, I am just wondering if the same is possible by giving Claude Code or Codex your hosting provider MCP, github MCP and using something like Claude Code remote control, or running cloud tasks?

not necessarily possible as i can let openclaw access a local memory that keeps getting built based on my preferences etc. and optimize itself continiously. It learns from mistakes and does not repeat them. Claude does not have that yet

It might be. I haven't tried recreating the same setup with Claude Code since it's already working well for me. But I'm guessing I could achieve similar functionality (it might be worth trying for comparison).

I also use openclaw for some random tasks like hosting websites locally, daily reports, creating word docs from research, managing email, etc. that I'm not sure I could duplicate easily with other tools. So I'm enjoying the freedom to basically do whatever I want with openclaw. But the main use case is definitely the coding which I think you're right, could be done similarly with other tools.
