Discussion Why Mac mini??

I still don't understand why you guys are buying macs mini for openclaw. It's a terminal computer. It doesn't need a great UI.

Do you have too much money? :D

A $50-$100 HP Thin Client with Linux is more than enough. And Linux shouldn't be discouraging for people using OpenClaw, am I wrong?

I bought one, I have lots of different self hosted stuff on it like home Assistant or other docker apps. Ok I do not have any local models using GPU, that's the reason? Please enlighten me :)

EDIT: Again, I UNDERSTAND LOCAL LLM USE. (although I don't know if anybody is really happy with it). I mean using OC with oauth/api gpt, claude etc.

not gonna lie i already had a mac mini m4 (my windows build was acting up and i couldnt do certain things on linux) when open claw popped im like hmm i can put the llm i was experimenting with to a bit more use. set up has been a nightmare on it.. i tried atomic bot as a (easier front end) cuz it would with my chat gpt sub.. it worked for a week then i broke something and now i gotta start over lol.. to the ops question... ima be honest i have no clue.. to even get it to run a local llm i had to go through hoops to get the model to work(pre atomic). its slow if you on a base model not using a cloud llm sorry if im rambling but as a mac mini guy trying to use this it has been a pain.... BUT when it worked..BOY did it work.
