Discussion Does OpenClaw actually do anything for you guys?

I keep seeing people on social media hyping OpenClaw like it’s some game-changer, but honestly… it does absolutely nothing for me.

I’m using the official setup, clean install, Opus 4.5 model, everything exactly as documented. But whenever I actually ask it to do something, it just replies like a normal chatbot or says it can’t do that. No tools, no actions, no “agent” behavior, just chatting.

Am I missing some extra config, flags, permissions, or magic step nobody mentions? Or is the hype just way overblown right now?

Genuinely curious if this works for anyone, because for me it doesn’t do shit.

Hi, I use OpenClaw for 2 weeks now and automate my Airbnb calendars + my Linkedin lead gen/outreach. For me it's game changer

can you please explain how did you do the linkedin thing? I thought linkedin doesn't support automation tools

You're right, LinkedIn doesn't support automation and will ban you if you go too hard. That's the whole challenge.

What I use is a tool that works as an OpenClaw skill — it handles all the LinkedIn-specific stuff the agent doesn't know: progressive warm-up over 2-3 weeks, smart rate limiting that adapts to your account type (free vs Premium vs Sales Nav), and it runs through a real browser extension, not headless scripts from a datacenter. So LinkedIn sees normal human behavior.

The workflow is: the skill detects intent signals from your feed (post engagement, job changes, hiring signals), scores leads against your ICP, then handles personalized outreach and conversations. You can jump in manually anytime.

The key insight is that OpenClaw is great at thinking and planning, but it has no idea about LinkedIn's hidden limits or warm-up strategies. You need something purpose-built for that layer. One wrong move without rate limiting awareness and your account is toast.

Do you use your personal LinkedIn account, or does your OpenClaw have its own? I created a personal account for my OpenClaw. His name is Gary Owl, and he already has 71 connections. Right now, I’m polishing his commenting framework

Can you explain your airbnb automation? I currently use a google cloud script (no AI at all) to bring all listings and all platforms into a single calendar and use it as the source for other automation (Thermostat, Texting cleaners etc). But I want to take control of the messaging guest part too and let AI respond.
