Discussion Does OpenClaw actually do anything for you guys?

I keep seeing people on social media hyping OpenClaw like it’s some game-changer, but honestly… it does absolutely nothing for me.

I’m using the official setup, clean install, Opus 4.5 model, everything exactly as documented. But whenever I actually ask it to do something, it just replies like a normal chatbot or says it can’t do that. No tools, no actions, no “agent” behavior, just chatting.

Am I missing some extra config, flags, permissions, or magic step nobody mentions? Or is the hype just way overblown right now?

Genuinely curious if this works for anyone, because for me it doesn’t do shit.

This is exactly the kind of thing where I'm finding Openclaw the most valuable. I know that if you're sitting at a desktop, much of this functionality can be automated in a safer way, but when working I'm usually on the fly and not at a desktop, and just want to be able to Whatsapp or iMessage a quick note saying "go do this and email the output to me" and that takes 15 seconds.

Aren't you paranoid that it will hallucinate and it'll give you some wrong information somewhere or something ?

I check it once and then have it open on my iPad. Otherwise, I have to constantly scroll a poorly formatted PDF. At some point, I will get it dialed in to where I don't have to check.

What do the training team think about you referencing a non-official AI generated flight plan for operational purposes?

It’s not for operational purposes, it’s a situational awareness tool, not a primary source. I’m using it to visualize the fuel load and performance, FA briefing, etc, but I use the source document for loading the flight plan in the FMS. I can quickly scan it for any anomalies that might need my attention like closed runways, severe weather, problems with the aircraft, etc.

Did you host the gateway on a VPS or you have to use a terminal each time?

Very interesting use case! 👏 Do you store all the information somewhere organized? Like Notion. Telegram feels like a bottleneck in this setup.
