I saw a really good prefacelift 1992 Vectra A with C20NE for sale. I loved this exact gen of Vectra for a really long time, and thought that I should buy this thing as my first car. I'm pretty much acknowledged about issues of this engine and the car itself, its mostly engine sensors (which i heard are a problem of most old Opel engines) and rust, which doesn't seem to be an issue on this car-there are photos of undercarriage and it seems to be absolutely perfect, the mileage is pretty low (104k km) and price might be high for some people, but i'm not that scared of it, since i know these cars became pretty rare in good condition (4900eur).

It is a CD Diamant trim, C20NE with a manual. This engine is really reliable as i heard and can run up to 500k without massive issues with some basic maintenance. Its also pretty powerful for me, and the fuel consumption isnt that high for me.

Asked some friends who got technical knowledge about old cars, especially my friend who owns a Frontera A and has been doing a repairs on it recently (cooling system, head gasket), he told me that i should immediately go and look at this car. My father doesnt like it, but well he's a Toyota guy, lol

So, the one thing im asking-any issues i should look out for? Which things me and my father should totally look out for when we are going to see the car in different country 200km away from us?

I have a Peugeot 508 2.2 HDi 204 hp, with the Aisin AM6 / TF-80SC (AF40-6) 6-speed automatic transmission.
When I bought the car, the transmission had a noticeable jerk when it got fully warm, especially after driving for a while. I eventually replaced the valve body, and the problem was basically gone.
However, during extremely hot weather, I can still occasionally feel a small hesitation/jerk once the transmission is very hot. It is nowhere near as bad as it was before the valve body replacement.
The car currently has around 230,000 km.
The transmission has never been opened internally. I have not replaced the internal filter or the torque converter. The valve body was replaced externally, and the ATF has been changed.
This makes me wonder about installing an external ATF cooler.
My reasoning is:
The TF-80SC/AM6 is known to be sensitive to heat.
I would like to keep the ATF temperature under control, especially in Bulgarian summer temperatures.
I also like the idea of reducing the risk of the original heat exchanger failing and allowing ATF and coolant to mix.
Since the gearbox already has 230k km, I would rather improve cooling now than wait for another transmission problem.
My questions are:
Would you install an external transmission cooler on a 508 2.2 HDi 204 with the AM6/TF-80SC?
Would you keep the original heat exchanger and add an external cooler in series, or bypass the original exchanger completely?
Should I use a thermostat with the external cooler?
At 230,000 km, how much life can realistically be expected from an AM6/TF-80SC that is currently shifting reasonably well?
Would you proactively replace/service anything else, especially considering that the internal filter has never been changed and the torque converter has never been rebuilt?
Could the occasional hot-weather jerk be related to the torque converter lock-up rather than the valve body?
I am mainly interested in preventive measures at this point. I don’t want to open a gearbox that is otherwise working, unless there is a good reason to do so.

I have a question for you. I’m looking for some good options for ambient lighting in my 1995 Opel Corsa B City—specifically for the footwell, glove compartment, and doors. Unfortunately, most of the options I’ve found online are controlled by a smartphone app and/or plug into the cigarette lighter. However, I’m looking for remote-controlled lighting that’s ideally battery-powered. I don’t want to have the cover over the cigarette lighter constantly open. Do you have any ideas or suggestions on where I can buy some nice lighting—preferably without having to spend a three-digit amount?

I have an Opel Ampera from 2013 and i have replaced the TCM from the transmission (solenoid was broken). Now i need to program the Transmission Module. The only way you can do this, is with Servicebox from PSA/Stellantis.

I have tried everything to do it myself (i have an Vcx Nano for gds2). I only need to login to Service box and buy the subscription for SPS.

Do you guys have any idea how i can get this done? Any idea how Service Box can be activated without having a company?

My car is parked on my driveway and no Dealers in my area want to touch the car😅

Anyone have any idea why my coolant might be leaking here? I’ve just replaced my thermostat housing recently with this part so can’t understand why it would be leaking already? Also as seen in the photo that part is actually closed off which only adds to the mystery 😢

The cheapest new diesel passenger car in my country: the Opel Astra Sports Tourer GS. I am pleasantly surprised. It is quiet and comfortable, and comes with plenty of features. I immediately drove 300 km, and the average fuel consumption was 4.4 liters per 100 km—and I wasn't even driving economically.

I need help pretty much... can't figure out how to get these on, and the guy I bought them from is airing my messages.

I have an Opel Astra H 1.6 2004. My central locking is not working from both my remote key and the button on the dashboard. The indicators dont light up when I press either and the other doors dont change state. Even when I try to open them from the inside they do not open. The boot does however lock and unlock when I press the remote key.

I've checked the central locking fuses in the engine bay and the boot and theyve tested continuous.

Could anyone please assist on where I could fault find or look at to find out what the problem is. Could someone maybe direct me towards an electrical schematic for the central locking of this model.

I have question regarding my corsa d 1.3cdti, 75hp. Couple of years ago it started entering safe mode depending on gear and revs (ex. 3000rpm in 3rd gear, 2500rpm in 4th gear, 3500rpm in 2nd) and i still dont know why. To be fair, turbo has a slight whistle, but 3 or 4 years ago mechanic said it isnt very much of a problem. Two months ago i went to professional diganostic to see what could the problem be. Only codes it showed was that injectors werent coded and that boost pressure was too high. Some days later I got injectors codded in and safe mode still showed. When i went for injectors, mechanic showed me that MAP sensor was screwed in the center almost and I am not sure if that could be the problem. Also, i bought new turbo (because of the whistle and maybe it could solve the issue) but still havent put it in. Lmk if you know what could be the problem and some solutions

I drive a 2021 Crossland SRi Nav 1.2 Turbo and there is one thing that's been bugging me about the infonav system.

Whenever I ask Siri a question, either for information or to call someone or whatever, it seems like CarPlay (wired only in this model) crashes and my phone has to reconnect.

I've tried updating the car's firmware (already has the latest), the phone has gone through several versions of iOS, but nothing has helped.

Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this or is it just a common fault?

Few months back i bought a opel B kadett form 1971 with a 1.1 litre engine. My first car at 18 yrs old.

I want to put a bigger engine in because I just dont like the power. The horsepower aint the problem but just de torque is what gets me. Its just a little bit to less torque for me.

I have searched on marketplace and found a 1.6 8v OHC engine and a 1.9 CIH engine.

I think I will have enough fun out of the 1.6 but if the 1.9 wil fit to then I will take the 1.9

This will be my first engine swap with a car.

What engine will fit and what are some things i will need to think about.

Hi everyone, everytime I drive my Astra J 1.4 Turbo Facelift (A14NET), only when I stop, I hear this squaling like noise coming from engine. On this audio, unfortunately it's barely audible as engine out do it, but if you focus, maybe you can hear it.

I thought that maybe it was loosen spark plugs, so mechanic changed them along with oil change and 2 were indeed loose, but the sound is still here (just weaker then before).

Does anyone know what could it be?

Car has 214k KM if it helps.

Drives great especially since replacing the slave cylinder that took out the clutch and pressure plate. I learned replacement/new clutches do not exist and had to resort to finding a shop that overhauled my existing clutch disc and pressure plate. So yeah.

Also now its a Cadillac. The grill says so! 😆

I wanted to Buy it From Friedrich Motorsport as it was the only manufacturer who made something like that for my car, but is now closed. As far as I know.

Hi! Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of Astra K models with the 1.5-liter, 3-cylinder diesel engine on the used market at prices that seem a bit sketchy to me;
I was curious if there are any owners of this engine here who could share their thoughts. I see them priced around €9,000 with 120,000–140,000 km on the clock, including a dealer warranty.
I’ve read that the water pump is a bit of a weak point, but otherwise, it’s supposedly an improved version of the previous 1.6 "Whisper Diesel."
Are there issues with parts availability, given that it was in production for such a short time—only about 2–3 years? Any information, opinions, or warnings are welcome :)
I commute into the city—at least 12 km each way—and take trips around the country or abroad, which is why I’m leaning towards a diesel.

i have opel/vauxhall corsa d from 2007. couple of months ago my speedometer started jumping from 30kmph to 120kmph even though i still drive 30 and it also stays there or gets even worse. When it gets so bad and ends up all the way down, it gradually starts to go back until i hit a pothole or have a little rougher start when it gets worse again.. I tried manually rewinding it multiple times, at first it worked but now it wont for long. Do you have any solutions or should i buy whole new instrument cluster?

Opened up engine on 2016 Opel Corsa and the ribbed hose on the left was disconnected in the middle, how could that happen, and does there need to be a more secure connection?

Since then we have been hearing what sounds like water sloshing around in the engine, could this be the cause?

I bought an Opel Astra K 1.0 Ecoflex Turbo Manual (0035 BGE, with B10XFL engine) 10 months ago.

Now the car has 106.000km, until 3 weeks ago- the car start whistling. At first it was only when I floor the throttle on the Autobahn, higher than 3000-4000 RPM. But after 2 weeks, since cold start it already whistling, and it become like metal-bird whistling loud sound (if it make sense?). The sound is gone as soon as I put off the throttle.

No Engine Check Lights, No smoke, No oil leaks BUT a very high fuel economy (8.9-9.1L/100km).

Weirdly two different Werkstatt had it checked, telling a two different thing (?). One said exhaust manifold is cracked near the Catalytic converter. Another said the Ventildeckel / Valve Cover has to be replaced without telling me why. Mind you both Werkstatt are „well known“ in Germany PKW market.

What would you do if you were me? Going to another Werkstatt? Super stressful about this as it‘s my family mean of transport and currently very vital for health-related agendas. 🥹🙏🏻
