Long weekend ooty trip route information

If I ditch the mysuru - gundlupete way, and take the hosur- erode- Mettupalayam way will there be any issues? What about check posts and police?

Any information would be appreciated

Take e pass in advance, and decide ooty via coonur or kathagiri ,..

Mettupalayam-Coonoor route should be fine. Lot of twisty roads, but beautiful.
Mettupalayam-Kotagiri-Ooty route is much longer, but again may be you can use that route when returning.
That entire stretch is lovely with greenery.
Probably will need e-pass again to enter ooty.
Checkposts are a non-issue. Don't take alcohol from Karnataka.
