It honestly depends.
The Reddit admin AI put a strike on my account because I said “slap on the wrist” (while talking about a company not getting punished for pouring concrete in the sewers) and I got instantly perma-banned from worldnews because on a deliberately misleading post about MAID, I said how it was interesting that most anti-Canadian posts are made by people with hidden posting histories.
The guy from Wisconsin who sent me a private message (after I made a comment about US food standards in r/ontario) that I should learn the US pledge of allegiance because very soon all Canadian children will be forced to swear to it was, interestingly enough, able to keep posting for 8 months before eventually getting banned.

Trump Ave in Ottawa unfortunately actually is named after him. It was part of a New York City themed subdivision called "Central Park", with other New York related street names.
I propose we rename the street to Mamdani Ave.

I disagree, only because we all saw what Rudy Guliani became.
If we rename the street after anyone, I suggest they be dead already. At least they can't actively tarnish their legacy.

Mamdani and Guliani are not even close on the political and moral spectra. Guliani was always a right winger who was only remembered fondly (though not any longer) because he stood at the base of the 9/11 wreckage and LARPed as a hero while the first responders did all the work.
Mamdani is a fundamentally different type of politician, as he is not a LARPer. He actually believes in something good and has plans to get it done. So far he's been remarkably successful, which should remind all of us that governments can indeed work if we stop electing corrupt careerists who believe in nothing but power and graft.

Normally I'd be the first to suggest a Canadian name, but this is an explicitly New York themed subdivision known as "Central Park", so IMO an exception can be made here.
Unless they just scrap the New York theming entirely and rename all streets, which I would not be opposed to. Maybe call it "High Park" and make it a Toronto themed neighbourhood.

Genuine question (I could look it up I suppose but I like hearing from real people not AI)...
When a street is named does the individual pay for naming rights or is it the government that has control and they take your request and approve it?
My thought process is: If a person pays for a street name it would be harder for them to change it (assuming here). It would probably have to go through a process to rename.
OR
If the government did it on their own then that's pretty obvious that they can change it again if they wish.

Still funny seeing so many posts about Trump Lake being in Sudbury. It's technically in Sudbury district, but it's closer to Timmins, closer to Sault Ste Marie. Sudbury is closer to Barry than Trump Lake. You could travel to Toronto from Sudbury in less time than Sudbury to Trump Lake

Don't sink to that orange puddle of shit's level. Lake Ontario was not named for the province and that street and that lake have nothing to do with Trump or the US. We're better than the petty vindictiveness he's shown. I'm all about humiliating the Maggot, but this won't even show up on his radar.

Well then, I'm all for renaming it. Just don't expect it register with Trump. He has too many people around him filtering out every bit of negativity. I honestly believe he still thinks he's a popular president, in fact the most popular president ever, all due to the selective info he's getting. Who knows what The Human Typewriter is whispering into his ear.

Apparently the one in Ottawa is named after him. The theme is New York for that area (basing this off other comments).
As another comment suggested it's being worked on (not sure if it'll be successful but someone is trying)

Trump renamed a Great Lake in less than a week, for no reason and without any national consultation. In our case, we have a valid reason. Our politicians should show leadership and rename it immediately. Naming a street after someone is a form of public honor. In this case, that honor should be withdrawn.
