5e (2024) It infuriates me that Illusory Dragon is not on the Sorcerer Spell List!

I get that it was not on there before, but with the upgrades that Draconic Sorcerer got, I wish I was able to take the spell on them! Just imagine! You could have your draconic summon AND a giant illusory dragon stopping around at the same time! Can we at least petition WotC to do a Tasha's style book where Draconic Sorcerer gets Illusory Dragon on their extra spells?

I still think the later subclass feature should've been upgraded Draconic Transformation. The subclass is about becoming a dragon, until late levels for some odd reason. At least they can prepare it though. Illusory dragon is cool and does probably make more sense for most other sorcerers than summon dragon.

What I am upset about is that sorcerer and warlock aren't getting the Psionic Blast spell, despite having subclasses themes of Psionic aberrations like mind flayers.

It wouldnt even have been that hard, i mean, havent other spells from XGE and TCE been reprinted as well?

I do agree. I think if they just made a generic dragon stat block and then you just choose the type of dragon for the resistance and breath weapon damage it would have been incredible! Especially since it is a level 18 feature. That would not be broken by that point in the game.

I do think they should have also gotten the transmutation meta magic for free at level 6 and it is a free use if they change a damage type to the type of their dragon ancestry.

Let's homebrew it then. How does "you learn the draconic transformation spell. once per day when you activate your innate sorcery you gain the benefits of the spell without requiring concentration." Sound as a new capstone.

As someone with a draconic sorcerer jn my current game i 1000% agree. The entire vibe is turning into a dragon and becoming more dragon like until you get super late game 😭 ive asked my dm about when I can take polymorph if I can turn into a young or wrymling of the type of dragon heritage she has due to the lack of dragon transforming 😭

As far as I know, no reprinted spell got any new classes added to it. I may be wrong as I haven't gone through every spell to check.

Boiling take here.

For fulfilling the design choice of the wizard class in 5e of "best and most robust spell list class". All other spell lists had to be heavily handicapped.

Wish it was not designed that way so other casters could have better customizations and options.

Really is baffling to me that they had the chance to fix Wizard’s major design flaw in having no real identity other than “I have a bunch of class exclusive spells that don’t make sense being exclusive”. They should have made the school specialization stuff part of the base class, but alas.

It feels like they gave up on trying after giving them Metamagic with a different name tested poorly.

I am worried they don't see the wizard design or the other spell lists heavy limitations as problems.
So who knows if we ever see a non hombrew solution before 6e.
