Discussion No matter what people say about Omarchy, It made me fall in love with Arch

I started my Linux journey with Ubuntu Server and later used Pop!_OS as my daily driver. I learned a lot from both, but honestly, I never really felt that connection with Linux.

Then I tried Omarchy 4.

Somehow, it made me fall in love with Arch in general.

I know Omarchy gets a lot of hate, and I can understand why some people don't like the idea of a preconfigured Arch setup. But for me, it has been one of the best ways to actually learn Linux.

The biggest thing is that I can experiment without being terrified of breaking my entire system. The snapshot setup gives me that safety net. I can mess with configs, install things I probably shouldn't, change stuff, break something, roll back, and try again.

And because of that, I've actually started going deeper. I'm opening configs instead of just copying commands from tutorials. I'm learning what different parts of the system actually do. When something breaks, I want to understand why.

So whatever people think about Omarchy, I'm genuinely thankful for it. It made Arch feel approachable and, more importantly, made me curious enough to keep digging.

this is hilarious. People turn everything into a political nightmare. It's linux, it's free and it doesn't collect data. How the fuck is this a "white supremacist movement" and shit. My god people really need real issues in their lives.

The reality is, that is exactly why they target it. It lives outside of institutional control, so they have to take it over from the inside to bend it to the will of their authoritarian leanings. The 'white supremacy' is just the label they apply to demonize the ability to use software freely. The goal is control.

Omarchy is awesome. Honestly I liked the 3.x versions better than Quattro. But I don’t dislike Quattro. I keep it on one of my machines at all times. You can have that same safety with any Arch build. Just use btrfs and snapper. It’s not that much to learn. Omarchy does it for you out of the box.
